Hey,
A new army list, since I don't use many tanks and I often I'm all-infantry.
Are these tanks good or not? They are for fighting against horde armies (Tyranids and Orks), as well as holding off BA and Chaos deamons or Eldar.

You got one of the names wrong. It's bane wolf, not baneblade. I'm sure you're aware there's a slight difference between the two
Also, I'd drop the infantry lascannons so you can buy some upgrades of the russes. Eldar move too fast for lascannons and hordes are, well, hordes.

That was kinda dumb from me...
Also I like your Valhalla quote.

Tanks aren't too bad - remember to deploy the LRBTs as seperate units, same for the fast tanks. I actually think the hellhound is more dangerous than the banewolf - just as many kills on a non-marine army, IDs T3 characters, much better range. In my experience bane wolves are a lot easier to kill before they can do much. It's a personal choice though.
Your infantry could be more efficient. Definitely take a standard on the CCS - it will help prevent men running from shooting casualties. Obviously, the BS4 CCS is a better place to put an expensive lascannon than the BS3 PCS.
In all KP games, and some objective games, it makes sense to blob up your infantry squads. So don't buy a vox for each squad, give one to a single infantry squad per platoon. I also think you should redistribute your heavy and special weapons. AC/GL is a good combo - when you shoot light vehicles, they're both useful, unlike when shooting a LC/GL at heavier vehicles.
I'd make each infantry squad either LC only or AC/GL. PCS can be 3xflamers, this works well because you can move to flame deep strikers or fast assaulters without giving up your infantry's HW shooting.
Finally, I think you need more meltaguns in this list, to deal with heavy armour. Devildog alone is not enough. I'd drop mortar squads and ratlings, add in a veteran squad with meltaguns and a chimera. Lots of people use that particular unit, it's held to be pretty much the last word in vehicle hunting.

Hmm...
This list needs a lot of change.
Thing is, usually I play ''hordes of infantry''. I want to try how the Imperial tanks are without losing too much infantry.
I can do 2 infantry squads and then combine them. That saves me 5 points on the voxes.

IS4: 60

IS5: 65

Total of 680 points.
That leaves 820 points for tanks and such. I want to make an army list I could use for a while, so I don't buy useless models.
Perhaps more infantry or just some tanks? Or a bit of both?
Any comment is appriciated

I've got an infantry force like you, and I've got some tanks backing it up, but now I'm scrambling for chimeras. If I were you I'd balance pie with mobile scoring, to develop an objective-taking capability...
Dakka always tells me I don't have enough vehicles, and that the ones I do bring (5-8) will get torn apart. Actual gaming experience isn't quite so dire, but there's something to be said for no vehicles or redonculous amounts of vehicles.
Either of those options would work as well. Which way does your heart lie? Infantry, supported infantry or full mech?
I'm actually about to post my latest attempt at a supported gunline...

I like the hordes of infantry the guard can field. Or just FrfSrf your opponent into oblivion.
Altough I'm abit curious how the tanks are.
Atleast I am taking 2 hydra's. I tried a proxy of the hydra and it went quite well. They cost the same as a heavy weapon team with 2 autocannons and a heavy bolter. But they are twin-linked, can move 6'' and still fire a weapon.
For the rest I could try this:
Lrbt x 2: 300
Devildog x 2: 240
That provides me with 6 tanks, and leaves me with 130 points.
With some editing, I think I can fit in a veteran squad in a chimera with melta's.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Also Murdog, I like your heavy weapon thread!

I don't think that's legal. Each platoon must have two infantry squads, and you can only blob squads in the same platoon...

I dont' think 10 days counts as threadcromancy, especially when it's an update from the OP.
Anyways, this list is a mess, FOC-wise. Clean it up (or at least make it legal), and things will be better.
As for the list as a whole, I'm kind of concerned. Taking a half-mech list is okay if the other half is something good (like half armored, half horde, half air-cav, etc.). As it is you've got a half-mech list wherein the other half is comprised of a few do-nothing PISs and a very small number of other vehicles. This lack of redundancy means that you relying on single units to take stuff down is very risky. For example, once your russ or hydras gets drop pod combi melta sternguarded, how are you going to kill your opponent's tanks?
Furthermore, your firepower is low in general. You're spending over 600 points for what basically ammounts to a couple of lascannon and a couple of autocannon shots per turn (assuming that the chimeras don't move). Your list as a whole is doing this, plus a few hydra shots and a worthless vanquisher. Hardly an overwhelming amount of firepower for a firepower-based army to be putting down at 1500 points.
Also, why the platoon standard?

Platoon standards are useful when running a gunline.
And I suck at making army lists.
I like the guard because I can field a lot of infantry without losing too many points.
Out of the 12 games I played, 8 were against the same person and in 7 of those games, I got slaughtered bij AV14 vehicles.
(Land raiders with heavy bolters IIRC.) So I want to be able to destroy those.
Changed it to:
CCS: 105
vox, MoO, LC
PCS: 65
vox, AC, Gl, standard
IS1: 70
vox, AC, GL
IS2: 65
AC, GL
Vets: 155
3 melta' s, chimera
PCS: 75
vox, LC, GL, standard
IS3: 80
vox, LC, GL
IS4: 70
LC
IS5: 75
LC, GL
IS6: 70
LC
Vets: 155
Metla's (3), chimera
Mortar: 60
Hydra x 2 : 150
LRBT x 2 : 300
I am not too happy about htis list. Something feels wrong, I just don't know what.
Things that could change:
I could drop the vets and give the chimera's to the CCS.
Drop all the LC and buy infantry for it.
Drop all the GL, which gives 30 points.
Sell all the 40k stuff and go play Bingo.

Actually, you might want to go back and re-read the rules on platoon standards. They're useful for when you're charging into an assault and want a boost to that squad's morale, but don't want to pay for a commissar or risk having him execute the officer.
loner wrote:I got slaughtered by AV14 vehicles.
Sadly, this list isn't going to do well against this threat, especially spammed. Your entire serious anti-tank is comprised of just two squads of dudes. If your opponent kills those two vet squads, the rest of your army is seriously fighting an uphill battle.
What I'd start by doing is dropping those voxes and GL's in LC squads, and the platoon standards and the master of ordnance, along with the weapons your PCSs are carrying. All that garbage gets you 130 points. I'd then turn around and give those PCSs 3 meltaguns apiece. With the remaining 70 points, I'd use 10 to turn the 2x hydra into a single manticore (your HS slots are crowding something into squads, and squads of two aren't so great).
With the remaining 60 I'd spend 30 on 3 meltaguns to put in your PISs with LCs and the other 30 on 6 meltabombs which I'd distribute either amongst your officers/vets, or among your PISs.
For the price of a LC, an AC and 3 GLs you get 9 meltaguns, 6 meltabombs and an upgrade kit that turns a pair of autocannon tanks into a S10 ordnance large blast monster of doom.
A fair trade by any regard, but an especially fair trade given your problem is AV14.

Your list looks a bit confused at the moment. What do you see your army doing?
I would consider blobbing up the infantry squads, and attaching a commissar to each. Make sure each blob has the same heavy weapon ie 3 LC or 3 AC. Drop all but 1 vox from the infantry squads if you are going to blob them.
Bear in mind, basic infantry are really really fragile. 1 squad of marines can probably wipe out 1 a turn, so you either need lots of them, hide them in cover, or blob them for the ablative wounds.
Give some of the sergeants melta bombs. Or are you also having trouble with the contents of those landraiders? If so, the manticore as recommended above is a good bet.
