Simple. Me and one of my friends were have a game of Tyranids v. Marines,with me playing nids.

So,later in the game,I FINALLY get into assaulting range with his footslogging marines, and I throw a unit of hormaguants at him. This assault continues for a turn. I'm winning slightly.

On my next turn, I move a unit of genestealers into assault range of this existing Assault,and I make a charge towards the side of his unit. He says I can't do this....what?

I don't understand. There's a list of disallowed assaults,and none of them say you can't assault an enemy unit in CC already. There are several references to my scenario in the BRB. I thought this was the entire goal of initiative.

Anyway, Can I do this,or is it disallowed?

Yes you can. It is covered in the BRB under "Multiple Assaults"

Yes, you can do this. Your friend was wrong.

Unless you had totally surrounded the marines with your gaunts and it was impossible for you to make it into assault with the marines. You cannot just pile up the Genestealers on the outside of the assault.

Yes you need to have at least one genestealer in base contact for the assault to be legal.

If you can only have a 1 unit vs 1 unit fight, then what is to stop someone with, say a 30 man DC squad, just annihilating everything because you can't use numbers to kill them.

As people above have said, if you can get at least one genestealer into base contact with his unit, you can charge.

pssst...you kill DC with shooting. Trying to do so in assault is painful....

And worse still, his Marines couldn't even hit back at the Genestealers till the next assault phase....

akira - uh, no. Read the rulebook errata on that one

You determine wh ocan hit move at the start of the assault, not the assault phase -so after assault moves and Pile in!

No, the Errata fixed that!

Hmm. I had a look in the rulebook 'Multiple assaults'- page 41. Me am Dumb. I had misread it all this time!
