My friend has had the 'luck' of having two sets of AoBR Space Marines given to him. He's therefore seen fit to give me a 5 man squad from one of these sets to paint up as a I wish. I went through several ideas in my head including Space Wolves and even Ultrasmurfs. But finally decided on having a little go of a Flesh Tearer.

I'm not usually one for line highlights, but thought I'd give it a try on this marine.

Any feedback is massively helpful and welcomed, negative or otherwise

Nice, i like it alot, it looks really clean.

I agree with blacktemplar, looks like a new piece of shiny armour ready to be splattered with blood, very clean indeed.

Great work, though i have one negative thing to say, the only group of people that I could see wearing gold in the chapter is the Sanguinary Guard.

Your right about that, still this is a tactical space marine.

No offense meant Nerbil. Again great work.

None taken mate. A lot of my friends got a bit confused when I mentioned the golden helmet.

It is a tactical marine, I'm just not 100% sure how to highlight black and so I thought that minimising the amount needed (Especially on the helmet which I thought would horrendously difficult) would give me less chance to screw up.

Any tips for highlighting up the shoulder pads btw?

I always use a 1:1 mix of chaos black and codex grey along the edges to highlight my black armour. Any darker and you can't see it, any brighter and it looks strange. If you want to highlight the curved surface of the shoulder pad you can start with a 2:1 chaos black to codex grey down the middle, then again with the 1:1 mix to make it look like light is catching it.

Hope that helps

Try a very, very dark blue to where it's almost black at the VERY edges, to give a futuristic feel..

I would consider maybe doing the chest eagle in another color, that way the gold of the helmet stands out even more, and you don't have 2 potential focal points competing to draw the eye at the same time. It is an incredibly strong contrast between the maroon/black and that gold, the less competition there is in terms of coverage, the more striking it will be.

Quite tempted to paint it over black, I will admit that. Might have to do that.
