Posting new messages is always slow on the works comp.

But lately, posting new messages to dakka on the home comp is taking a very long time, from pressing 'submit' to it appearing. Sometimes it's just faster to wait a minute, press 'refresh' and then it'll have posted (at which point I leave the posting screen by going back to forum).

No other internet slow speeds, so it's not at my end. I run firefox btw.

"And what is wrong with their life? What on earth is less reprehensible than the life of the Levovs?"
- American Pastoral, Philip Roth

Oh, Death was never enemy of ours!
We laughed at him, we leagued with him, old chum.
No soldier's paid to kick against His powers.
We laughed - knowing that better men would come,
And greater wars: when each proud fighter brags
He wars on Death, for lives; not men, for flags.

Same here I can sometimes watch a whole music video on youtube before the message is submitted.

Yup, well known error. I've got some debug code going live in the near future that should enable to me to finally pinpoint and workaround the problem but it will probably be 1-2 months at least before it is all hunky dorey. When it bugs me, I tend to just open a new tab and continue doing stuff in the new tab, closing the post tab when it is done posting. Crappy workaround I know.

This is my top priority bug at the moment for what it's worth (along with the 'you have posted too soon' glitch).

About to eat your Avatar...

Whenever I run into this problem, I just wait a few seconds then click the 'Forum index' button. I have never had a post just disappear, and it seems like specific threads have a problem updating in a timely fashion.

I know next to nothing about programming, but simply skipping to a new thread, usually sorts the problem out given time. 5 minutes is usually all it seems to take; occasionally my posts won't show in the thread, but you can read them through my info page, and in the preview caption.

Friends are like potatoes, if you eat them they die.

When life gives you lemons, make orange juice, and let everyone wonder how you did it.

98% of people like "98% of <group of people> thinks/likes <something>. If you are the 2% that <something else in contrast> copy+paste this into your sig!" type sigs. If you're part of the 2% that hates it, copy+paste this into your sig

We know there is a problem. Adding more posts does not help, so I am locking the thread.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.
