First models ive painted in X number of years that i think i did an alright job on.

C&C is welcome, im aiming for a army i can game with, so would you folks say this is a good enough paint job for the table top? They are Deatskulls, hence the blue, and I intend on expanding the force and even looting a malkador my bud is selling for cheap in the near future. If you dont think theyre up to tabletop snuff let me know what to improve.

I don't like the blue iron gob but everything looks pretty good.

Definitely needs a wash though.

Trust me washes are great. Devlin Mud is the best out there for beginners. They are a true bonus to an gamer. Just pick up a bottle and try it out.

I know washes can seem intimidating, but trust me when I say that they can take a good paint job and make it look incredible. As the old saying goes, there ain't nothing to it but to do it.

I agree washes are the way to go. Its as simply as selecting a tone you want to use, and then just brush it kindda heavy over basically everything. Its that simple. Once done, take off the excess with your brush and then let dry.

But I have to say, once you get those washed youll be surprised at how nice they look. Good job anyways so far. Specially for not painting in awhile

if you are thinking of inks, then wash's are way better. inks were not vey good for getting down in the cracks, but washs natuarlly go there, so there is really nothing to be afraid of. it is realyl easy with orks because you can just lather them in devlin mud, and it will look great! for the skin, you can start out with washing it with deviln mud, or if you want a littlle greener look, go with thraka

I use a darkened version of thraka green (by the use of added paint), and it works perfectly, becuase it gives a wash to the skin and you can use it for darker colors like brown pants, and even to muk up armor. I can see where you're coming from Borkin though, considering washes might be a bit hard to pull off with blue clothing

I use devlin mud on most models. In my speed painting of my 300+ Green Tide I use badab black over the entire model. It really makes a true difference.

Don't forget to paint "holes" on the front of your sluggas and so forth so that the bullets have something to come out of.

I swear by Badab Black. First put on all my basecoats then heavy Badab Black, then touch up highlights and such. Bam! I'm done.
