So in preparation for my sweetie moving in I spent tonight moving all my CDs from their bulky cases to a big old CD wallet.

Yeah, 15 years after everyone else figured that one out.

Even sillier the only CD player I own any more is in my car. Everything was ripped long ago. Ethically I figure I should hold on to them but really, will I ever use them again?

But I have trouble letting go. I still have a box of 3 1/2" disks somewhere.

If you have any Gary Numan or other 80's albums, I'd buy them off of you. Serious.

I'm not the only one

I really miss the big books for some computer games.

It depends on whether you might ever need to rip them again. How well organised is your iTunes and how secure are your backups?

I've never bothered to put my CDs into a wallet but I have plenty of storage and still listen to actual CDs.

I've still got a box full of vinyl even though I don't own a record player. 12-inch discs have a lot more sentimental value than CDs.

I personally love records. They are just awesome.

And yea man dont toss them. I did the same thing years ago, rip them and what not, burned copies and such. I almost got rid of them but decided not to. Thank god too, some jackass broke into my van where we used to live and stole all my shtuff I had in there. I wouldnt be able to get those back with out buying them all over again.

My wife and I still have 3-400 CDs hidden around the house and cars, but do I even want to rip them?

I already have (goes to check...) 340 gigabytes of music on the hard drive (and backed up), not including video clips.

I have contemplated just giving them away but couldn't be bothered searching for them all.

Hey, remember when PC games came in big cardboard boxes? Those were the days...

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Yeah then they changed them so they would be more "environmentally friendly". Liberal douches ;P

I have all my CDs (about 350 of em) in their cases stored neetly in shelves on my wall sorted alphabetally by band and then by release date.

I have them all ripped to my PC, when I buy a new one I listen to it for a week or so in the car, then it goes on my ipod and the case goes on the wall never to be opened again unless I need to rip it again

My multiple hundred CDs and records are now sitting in waterproof plastic boxes in the loft/attic. I kept the big cases for sentimental value, and because they stack quite neatly inside boxes.

Check out our new, fully plastic tabletop wargame - Maelstrom's Edge, made by Dakka!
