Yeah, At the end of the book (spoilers):
I doubt the sons would steal dreadnoughts, even if they needed them. It just doesn't seem very sons-y

I think it would be pretty hard to be a T-Sons dreadnought, you know, because of the rubric and all. Before the Heresy, I'd say yes. Now... maybe, if they were sorcerer dreadnoughts like BA's have librainain dreadnoughts, then they may have suvived.

Oh,can it. Just because FW makes a 1ksons Dreadnought doesn't mean they exist in the fluff.
Anyway, I don't really think the dreadnoughts would have survived the rubric unless they were psykers, so if there were any, they would HAVE to be psykers. Maybe I should ask graham mcneill, lol.

GW did previously show Dreads painted in the 1K Sons sceme in older editions of the game (specifically, 3rd) You asked, he delivered an answer. Don't be a douche just because Xcaliber contributed material contrary to what you'd expected. Besides, it's not like a 1K sons sorcerer couldn't reign in a soul and have it posess a dreadnaught who's pilot has been killed but left intact. Or... as intact as Dreadnaught pilots get I suppose.

Because I've been getting that answer from everyone else I ask, and I'm tired of hearing about it. I'm asking from a fluff position, not a model range position.

Well then stop asking, because that's your answer. FW and GW models, save for a scant few that're solely collector's pieces, have fluff history. So he did answer your question. The 1K sons did have dreadnought fluff and models in older editions. There's your answer.

A Rubric Dreadnought is perfectly feasible. It would be exactly the same as the Rubric Marines, but in a larger 'shell'. It would take orders from the sorcerers, just like rubric Marines, Terminators etc.

Enshrine the armor, bind the soul to the armor and thus the soul has control of the dreadnought. This is sorcery, demonic machinery and chaos tech. They have to have something figured out besides binding a demon to a defiler.

If a disembodied soul is perfectly fine when it inhabits a suit of powered armor, there's no reason to say that a dreadnought doesn't work either, especially since models of said dreadnought exist. Have there been any TS dreadnoughts made since the Hersey? Well, none made the normal way, at least.

As mentioned. If they can bind a daemon into a defiler they should be able to bind a Thousand son soul into a Rubric dreadnought. I could imagine a sorcerer who held a specific grudge for a particular individual in the Legion forcing that marines soul whenever it got summoned, to be bound into a dreadnought.
"Finally another chance of venge- DAMN! I'm in the Dreadnought again!"
*Cue sorcerer maniacal laughter*

I don't think being a 1kSon dreadnought would even be a punishment. For normal CSM, it's crude and awful and they go insane. For a 1kSon, they're already rubric, so it's just kinda like their armor got bigger. As a matter of fact, a Thousand Son dreadnought probably shouldn't have frenzies.
