One thing that i hate when playing, is my oponent shooting through a window with a unit(on foot/vehicle) that is not within 2" of the wall, and neither is my unit

for example

Enemy Unit <5" of open ground> BUILDING <5" of open ground> My unit

Am I wrong on this?

Even worse they sometimes claim they can shoot through multiple windows

And /Or multiple buildings

I just feel that there's something wrong here

Well it is true LOS this edition. If you can see it, you can shoot it.
My friend and I use a cheap laser pointer I picked up in a pet shop for under $3 and use it for situations like this.
If you can target a unit through a window and light me up with the laser, you can take the shot.
If you are less than 2" from the window, no cover save for me.
That's it.

I have found again and again that in encounter actions, the day goes to the side that is the first to plaster its opponent with fire. The man who lies low and awaits developments usually comes off second best. - Erwin Rommel

IIRC, if you can actually see the unit then you can shoot it, at least if you can see 50%, I may be slightly wrong but please, correct me if I am

I believe the 50% thing might be if half the squad are in cover or cannot be seen, then they get a cover save, once again though, I may be horribly wrong

Any model that has LOS to at least one model in the target unit can fire at that unit, BRB page 16 under "which models can fire?"

Page 16 does indeed make this very clear. If you can see even a tiny part of 1 model, you can pewpew them.

However, it's highly likely you'll be getting a cover save - remember if 50% of the models in the unit have even a toe covered by terrain then the unit gets a cover save.

Unfortunately he can shoot them, but you'll get at least a 4+ cover save, and depending on how you define terrain before the game, you could probably insist on a 3+.

Of course, if he's boltering your space marines that 3++ means jack, unless of course you feel the need to go to ground and pull off a 2++.

Ah fair enough, my bad, although I did remember the 50% of a model in cover=cover save to a certain extent.

That's vehicles (50% to 99%).

Oh, and remember that it's the body and major limbs you need to LOS to, not guns nor decorations. And the amount of cover for non-vehicles is defined as "more than nothing"

I really need to stay away from the 40K forums.

A new day, a new time zone.

Also, if you're shooting through a window, it's highly unlikely that more than a couple of your own models are going to have LoS to the target unit.
