Upon the war torn planet of Vareed IV four armies converge upon an Imperial landing pad that will give them direct access to the orbiting space hulk, Warps Wind.Upon this drifting hulk is an ancient relic of great power.


We are about to begin a modified 40k battle. Modified only in the fact that we have 4 armies in battle. Each army will begin 18" from one of the 4 corners on a 6x8 foot board. The objective is to get to the landing pad so you can travel to the space hulk in orbit. Once upon the space hulk the unit aboard will seek out an ancient relic of great power. They must fight through a brood of genestealers or atleast 12 blip counters. Once upon the hulk each model becomes an individual and fights alone. Once any model has made it into contact with the relic they must make it back to the planet surface to win.


We plan to update this each turn. So stay tuned!

Turn 1:

Even though the orks won the role for deployment....the Eldar stole the initiative.

So player turn order

Eldar - Orks - Tau - Ultramarines



Turn 1:

Eldar - Using their Star Engines they flew across the board 36 inches and ended their turn.

Orks - With engines screaming and orks yelling the boyz fly truck across the board 13 inches each.

Tau - Having deployed his Stealthsuits near the landing pad the Tau begins the game capable of reaching the hulk at the beginning of his 2nd turn. He moves onto the landing pad and moves his firewarriors off the hill. He uses his broadside and hammerhead as fire support, but is unable to damage the advanced eldar vehicles.

Ultramarines - The Librarian uses his Gate of Infinity and transports himself and 10 marines 24 inches towards the landing pad, but sadly lost one marine in the warp due to rolling doubles on the deep strike roll. The Jump marines move a total of 17 with their run and the rhino moves 12". The Predator stays back and fires at an Ork Battlewagon and destroys its zap gun.

Turn 2

Eldar: The Eldar player drops off all of his Dire Avengers and Striking Scorpions onto the landing pad. The vehicles shoot at some of the units surrounding them and killed one space marine with a Bright Lance and shot at the Tau and missed.

Orks: The Orks moved their vehicles forward again, but is moving slower due to the number of ruined buildings in the way. They are anxious for some combat.

Tau: The Tau player, being the first to enter the hulk has begun to fight genestealers that were hidden on board. Having 8 total stealsuits and 16 total gun drones he is filling up the corridors of the hulk. He lost one drone to a gene and was not able to kill a single one.

Ultramaries: The Librarian once again uses the Gate of Infinity and was able to get close enough to the landing pad after scattering away to run onto it. The Jump marines move closer, but not close enough to get onto the pad. They do fire all their plasma pistols at the Eldar Wave Serpant and was able to glance with one shot and cause a crew stunned result, but one of the pistols overheated and killed a marine. AHHHH!!!!! The Predator once again shoots at the advancing ork battlewagons and was unable to get past the cover saves to do any damage.

Turn 3:


Eldar: The Eldar shot at the Tau and caused a crew stunned on the Hammerhead. He also fired a Fire Prism at the assault marines killing two. His units in the hulk faced a single genestealer and killed him with shooting...but in turn 2 the Exarch was killed by the same genestealer.

Orks: The orks finally made it to the landing pad and unloaded both trucks on the assault marines. They skipped shooting and went into the assault phase and killed all the marines and wounded the chaplain. The orks were able to unload the battlewagons on the landing pad. Two mobs of grots and the warboss with five burna boyz. They will be doing some damage on the hulk.

Tau: The Tau continued to slowly move through the hulk. His broadside on the hill destroyed an empty battlewagon. He also moved his firewarriors a little closer.

Space Marines: The rhino dropped off the second tactical squad on the landing pad. The predator fired and disabled a battlewagon. The squad of tactical marines and the Librarian begin to move onto the Space Hulk. The librarian decideds to use his gate of infinity on himself to move into the room with the relic. What he was unware of was that it was guarded by 9 genestealers, including a broodlord. He survived the Broodlord's attacks, but was killed by two seperate rending rolls. He died with the relic in his hand.

Turn 4:


Eldar: The Eldar shot and destroyed the rhino with a bright lance. He also wiped out 7 ork boyz with a fire prism. His eldar on the hulk just moved forward.

Ork: The orks moved onto the space hulk and used the burna boyz to clear a path past the tau.

Tau: The Tau was slowed down by the orks and genestealers...and one of the stealsuit units ran back to the boarding ship and began to travel back to the planet.

Ultramarines: The marines moved another tactical squad on the hulk and was unable to kill the one genestealer in its way. The other squad after losing their librarian in the prior turn, continued moving and flamed the hallway attempting to kill a gene and a stealsuit. They killed the gene but failed to kill the tau, sadly they lost a marine in the flames.

Turn 5:

Since nealry everyone is on the hulk it will be easier to just give a few highlights till the end. It is a massive mess on the hulk right now...as a matter of fact if the hulk had a weight limit...it is exceeded. Anyhow so far the genestealers are really slowing everyone down, but we have also begun to fight one another. We have seen a lone tau stealthsuit survive two massive flamer shots. One from the marines and one from an ork burna boy. We will see if he survives once much longer.

On the planet's surface the Eldar continue to rule the day as they dominate with their vehicle weapons. The Tau continues to march forward into the eldar's advanced weapons.

Turn 6:

Once again it is a blood bath on the hulk. The Tau are being ripped apart by a single genestealer. The marines flame the hallway again and kills an ork, but once again...the lone tau stealsuit survives the flames and also survived the ensuing close combat. The Eldar Dire Avengers move closer to the relic rroom with few genestealers in the way.

The battle on the surface continues with vehicle vs vehicle combat and once again the Eldar dominate by destroying both the Tau Hammerhead and the Ultramarines Predator. Explosions everywhere, but the Tau Broadside on the hill finally destroys the Eldar Wave Serpent.

Final Report


Turn 7,8,9,10,11,12...etc.....


After a long night the battle upon the Space Hulk was finally over. The Ork Warboss, Hardbottum, took the relic and ran for it. When he arrived planetside near his deployment zone he was greeted by the Main force of the Eldar army, the Striking scorpions, rangers,wave serpent and a fire prism. The space marines were also waiting for the orks with 7 marines who left the hulk after realizing they could not chop through enough grots to get to the boss.

After the marines shot up the grots the Eldar finished off the orks with ease. They took the relic and loaded up on the wave serpent and left the battle with the relic.


The ELDAR suffered the loss of their Dire Avengers, the Rangers, and 1 Wave Serpent. The Striking Scorpions only lost three.


Great Job Young Master!

Looks like the Eldar had a plan...let the Orks do the work and then kill them once they returned! Good job everyone. My Tau army looks awesome on the table top, by the way! With that many stealthsuits and drones, they really should have been able to do better. Oh well. Nice battle report. Look forward to seeing more quality reports in the future.

Oh, were you using the Space Hulk shooting/assaulting rules or the standard 40k rules?

To answer your question Captain Antonius we used the 40k rules in the space hulk...which we all regreted during and after the game....but we also used some of the space hulk rules as well. One area which we should have thought about first was we couldn't shoot past our own models. So it was always an entire unit stuck behind one of their own guys. The orks brought an nearly 40 gretchin on the space hulk.....his strategy to bog everyone down really worked. Most everyone had flamers so we were toasting everyone except the crazy stealthsuit that kept surviving everything.

It was a good game, but we need to do something with the space hulk part of it... one thing that really slowed it down was the massive amount of genestealers that were waiting for everyone on the hulk.

Cool idea for a non-traditional style battle that had a good cinematic premise, some cool custom mechanics,etc.!!!

It looks fun.

It is nice to see people that are willing to be creative for the sake of fun as opposed to simply playing and posting yet another account of tourney army A beating tourney army B, etc.

Any plans to do a similar battle again?

We will probably chage up the rules but I think we plan to do another one. I'm sure we will post it when we do.
