I had to put aside an army I'm fanatical about because it's gotten to the point where it was obvious they could no longer win in any fashion against anyone. And now you want to suggest we should redo Chaos because they have a bigger following? Hello? Did it ever occur to you that maybe Orks don't have a huge following because their codex stinks and it's near-impossible to do anything with it?

As a Sisters of Battle player, I know this frustration.  I saw three new armies, the hated Necrons, and Chaos revision before I saw a codex.

"In the beginning there was darkness... or was there light.. no, there was darkness. Anyway, then Man came on the scene and verily did he create a great spacefaring empire and unto him... you know I'm almost positive there was darkness in the beginning."

The whole "Chaos-has-more-interest-and-sells-better" (and hence will get a dex before Orks) misses the point. Chaos is popular because they have a good dex, good models, and good fluff. For a long time, it seemed that no one was playing Eldar because, quite frankly, the last dex was so uninspired and the models were bland. After the new dex was released, I've seen interest in Eldar skyrocket. This happens with every new dex release and the litmus test of whether an army will remain popular is how well the dex was written, how nice the models are, and how much support from GW it receives.

If GW wants Orks and DE to sell more, then they need to do something with them. As has been said here already, the Ork dec is one of the oldest out there (not to mention, one of the smallest and worst compiled - they even forgot to include a weapons chart!).

But what is this? It's a RUMOR. It's some guy who heard it from some forum where some other guy heard it from some unnamed "developer". Chill out. If you're that upset about it, write GW. Okay yeah I know their history of listening to customer concerns but perhaps if they hear enough "I can;t wait for the Ork dex", then the boys in marketing might actually listen...

I remember why I stopped coming here...
The GW news depresses me.

"Dude! Wouldnt it be, like, cool if you could move, like, your dude-braj's models to royally piss them off? Yaaaaah, dude! Tooootally crucial!"

i think they're realizing that the current ork line leaves a lot to be desired. they're not a beginner army, as they require a ton of models to play. i would guess that GW is going to make them more 'newb-friendly' by adding many, many more options for playing a non-horde, non-vehicle heavy list.

so they can say "hey, you want to play orks? all you have to do to get an 1850 pt. army is spend 400 bucks like you would if you wanted to play marines."

I think I like it RAW.

The person who introduced me to 40k played Orks, and sadly due to complete lack of support for them he no longer plays... Orks deserve a good, new codex a lot more than Chaos, but if it is the case that GW is having problems finishing the Orks and is trying to not rush to finish, it might be better to let chaos come first and delay Orks slightly. However I'll bet this is not the case and that GW just wants to get new Chaos stuff out.

If there is to be a new Chaos codex I really hope they don't dumb it down to picking a leader to determine your troops. As it is, it is a great and detailed codex. I'd like a new Lost and the Damned list made as a full codex, and though the thought of one huge codex for everything chaos is interesting trying to put 2 army lists into one book would most likely make them both too simplified, to fit in the book. But anyway I don't think they would go in this direction, more likely they would dumb the list down rather than making it more expansive and detailed. I bet they'll just fix it up a little like the Tau codex, as people have said. Soo anyway, I'm hoping in the distant future they'll release a new LatD book, but now we need Orks, and for GW to not simplify the Chaos...

It's an ongoing rotation that gets old. "The vehicles are giving them trouble" (and have for years). "The Orks don't have enough interest" (because the codex is garbage!). "The Orks need more new models" (that can't get done if resources keep being siphoned off to do other stuff).

It just keeps going on and on.
Nah... GW is the master of the self-fulfilling-prophecy...  Since they have "trouble" with reality, then this causes a lack of interest and gives them trouble.

In all honesty i think ancientsociety has put the finger on the button, there its happened with many of the new codex

Also be aware if they are working ona new chaos codex/models. it maybe that they are still working a lot on ork, but jus tpushing the time scale back cause they don't think they could actually get them out for when they said and are throwing a dex/set of models they know they can finish and will earn them some cahs quickly out straight away.

The Imperium of Man is able to traverse the Warp with difficulty when their Emperor concentrates from his golden life support machine and lights the way. Unfortunately, because the Emperor has the attention span of the average 5-year-old Pokemon fanboy, this means that many an unfortunate Imperial ship has had the WTF WHERE'D THE LIGHTS GO experience, which in the Warp is invariably fatal.
