Posted By The Crawling Chaos on 01/07/2007 9:41 PM This is the worst GW army deal that I can remember. So useless. Really? It doesn't look any worse than the regular Space Marine one to me... they've swapped 5 Assault Marines for 5 new Devastators, swapped the bikes and razorback for a Terminator Squad and Predator, and 6 metal scouts for 5 plastic ones and a Librarian... and included the new Dark Angels sprues in place of a regular Tactical Squad. So if anything it's slightly better in my book...

So there's a 'Dark Angel Veteran frame' and a 'Ravenwing Upgrade frame' but no 'Deathwing Upgrade frame' ? Or does the 'Dark Angel Veteran frame' include some Deathwing bits?

The Veteran sprue would presumably do for power armoured Deathwing upgrades... and the Terminator sprue for models in Terminator Armour.
Anyone know if the Terminators are a complete model, or just the regular terminators with an add-on sprue?

The Dark Angels army deal is neither an army or a deal, discuss amonst yourselves.
(Old Mike Myers joke)
Anyways, the Army Deal has some value, I know of many people who bought a few, kept what they wanted and sold the rest. It does get codexes into the hardcore fan earlier, so how can you complain?

No idea... but you've always been able to have characters in power armour, who are members of the Deathwing.

Ah yes, I had forgotten about that. Azrael was in power armor right? And he was obviously a member of the Deathwing (along with all the rest of the ranking officers of the Chapter, I assume.) I've been reading too much of the "why Deathwing marines shouldn't wear power armor" fluff rants over at the B&C. I had taken leave of my senses for a moment. I apologize.

Yup, Dark Angels Masters, Librarians and the higher-ranking Chaplains, as well as some Veteran Sergeants and, of course, the entire first company are all members of the Deathwing. And all of the Special Characters released to date have been in power armour...

It's, uhm, traditional ornate Power Armor that the Master wears. I'm sure he did his time in Tactical Dreadnought armor. That winged helm only fits on Power Armor.

Yeah, that's on the sprue now too. Maybe that's why it's $250.

There's nothing wrong there.
The Battleforce is about half the size of the army box, and includes a pretty substantial saving on buying the models seperately, like most Battleforces.
The Army Box is just a bundle. It's a way for people to get an army all at once, a little earlier than most other people can get it, and so the saving on the models is quite a bit less.
