Designed to Captain Shae's specifications, the Mariner is intended to endure uncertain footing fighting ship-to-ship, a skill just as formidable on dry land. Giving up some armor to move quickly and proving nearly impossible to knock down, the Mariner carries a 'liberated' ship cannon in one hand and a brutal barnacle-encrusted anchor in the other.

Good gravy, Privateer Press. That thing is gorgeous. Unfortunately, I have a feeling that it will be in the vein of Rhulic 'jacks or Magnus's custom jacks... But I'm still hopeful. If I can attatch the privateers and canon to my existing force, I will be so rock-out-with-my-chalk-out happy.

I love the diving rig face on that thing.

Dear God! What is PP doing? Releasing the entire faction in less than a week (atleast releasing what the factions is anyways)?

Colour me there!

Not to mention that 'Jack has a frickin cannon!

I was sold on the warcaster....but after all this, I demand that May arrive tomorrow!

It's not a faction, though... I mean, is it? Is this like the Rhulic stuff or Magnus's stuff? Damn it, PP, I need some clarification on this. I -want- to buy this stuff. I mean, it couldn't be another faction. Privateers aren't known to be cliquish.

I'm just so... uncertain. Will the pirates love me like I love them?

That...that...

Wow. That 'jack is so much cooler than I could have possibly imagined. It's carrying a freakin' anchor. An anchor , for cryin' out loud!

I hope it has some special reach chain-whip rule.

Okay: pirate captain? Check. Crew? Check. Artillery? Check. Awesome undersea Jacques Coustou anchor-and-giant-cannon wielding warjack? Check.

I shall name him 'mad anthony', and enjoy this army to bits.

I have a question about 'Dogs'

Is Randy Jackson prime minister of Ord? Is the dog some kind of sacred totem animal there. We already have the Devil Dogs and now (Prince and the New Power) Sea Dogs.

Oh yeah...does anyone have any idea on how much that pirate 'jack is going to cost?

Also, how do mercs work?  Can you just pick a unit and attach it to your main force (Cryx, for example?)

Could I have a Cryx army and add just that pirate 'jack, or would the pirate warcaster have to go with him?

It all seems very interesting...

Rofl!

Back on topic though, I would be willing to guess that the pirate jack 'Mariner' will be $25.
I base this estimate off of the price for the jack of comparable size that was released before the Mariner, the Wroughthammer Rockram. It costs $25 as well. Going back through the catalog on PP, it seems the further back you go, the cheaper the jacks are.

Check out this link.
www.privateerpress.com/WARMACHINE/gallery/default.php

Keep hitting "Previous" and see how the prices diminish as the codes become smaller.

Thats my best guess anyways.

The precident for mercs, thus far, is that mercenaries can be added to any force the mercinaries will work for, as listed on their card.  The pirate Sea Dogs and the Cannon, barring any special rules, should be able to attach to any army.

Mercinaries tend to not work for Cryx and the Devil Dogs, another Ordic merc squad, won't work for Khador.  The description of the Sea Dogs, however, tends to imply they will work for anyone similar to the Steelheads.

Mercenary Warjacks can only be controlled by mercenary Warcasters  (Like Shae, Ashlynn, Magnus, and the dwarves.) or mercenary 'jack Marshals (Like Sam McHorne or the Hammerfall dwarf.  The Sea Dogs may get to marshal a 'jack.  Sweet!)  Shae would count toward your limit of Warcasters for a game.  So to use the Mariner in your current list, you'd have to already be playing Mercs, add a merc 'caster to your 1000 point list, or marshal the 'jack with a merc 'jack marshal.

I'm assuming, though, that the Mariner will be like Magnus's Custom 'jacks or the Rhulic 'jacks and can only be lead by Shae or a pirate 'jack marshal (if pirate 'jack marshals exist.)

Wild Speculation.

So how do 'jack marshals work?  I'm assuming it's a way to add a merc 'jack (plus marshal) to a list (under 1,000 points) with a single warcaster from a non-merc faction.

Jack marshals control a warjack on the field but gain no focus. Instead, they
are allowed to give a single command on their turn to the warjack.

Jack marshals are there to include useful warjacks that don't necessarily need
a lot of focus to create havoc. An example of a good focus-less warjack would
be the mortar firing Devastator for Khador. Since it can only fire once per
turn, extra focus isn't required.

I hate those things.

Some backwater sump

They will be mine.  Privateer has dipped into my dreams and cast them in pewter.  And if they work for cryx, all the better.  Otherwise I'll be playing them straight mercs.

That's because pirates are the awesome.

And Khador is just annoying in gereral

Irusk, 2 mortars, Kovnik and a Destroyer. Add other units to taste.

Edit: 'cause I always get those 'jacks confused.

Another customized warjack crafted at the behest of Captain Phinneus Shae, the Buccaneer is a nimble and sure-footed combatant. The Buccaneer is a legacy of Shae's service for the wealthy Mercarian League and boasts a powerful net-launcher capable of entrapping an enemy warjack as easily as smaller prey. It can then close for the kill utilizing its lengthy pole gaff.

neat model. I wonder how effective that sucker will be.

Great to see all this pirate stuff being leaked at one time. Nice.

Not so sure about the cast net though... Might be better for catching bait shrimp than delaying warjacks.

We'll have to wait to see the rules, but my guess is that it'll have an effect like 'ice cage', rendering it immobile and reducing its DEF to 5.

There are very, very few models in the Warmachine line-up that are ineffective, and even those have their advocates.

There are also the Cataphracts with their harpoons that entangle folks, immobilizing them and dropping their defense to 5.  That's what I'm going to wager, too.

If there is another Light 'Jack, there's enough stuff for a typical starter box for Shae.  That's pretty cool.  I'll pick it up.  Dollars to donuts, though, these 'jacks will only be usable by Shae, which is a pity.
