I will say that if they do decide to limit the "creativity" of drop pods, it wil be a hard sell but i would like to see it done. I agree that I have seen some absolutely dynamite looking scratch built models but for everyone of those i have seen 10 abusive garbage creations....I have seen drop pods at tourneys that were 12 inches across and i have seen ones much like those mentioned which were basically a beer can spray painted the night before the event...This is the crap that I have a problem with.

I think the best fix for GW if they are not planning on making a kit is to come out with basic dimensions in a WD so they can be modeled correctly with some sort of scale in mind. Just tell us that they are approx. "x" inches wide and "y" inches tall and then we can go from there. I also think that tighter restrictions need to be made as far as appearance goes such as ...

1. obvious hatches

2. propulsion mechanism, grav chutes, air-brakes (whatever)

...you get the idea where I am going with this....If you want to scratch build something, fine, great , super, I cant wait to see what you create, but by god take some time and effort....dont just throw some PVC together and paint it in your colors. Thats just lame. :thumbs down:

For example, the pod and marines on the first page...(the red, yellow, and white ones), This guy obviously spent many loving hours pumping out a squad that looks absolutely spectacular, yet spent what looks to be about a 1/2 hour on that PVC thing with alomost zero detail save for a couple aquilas and some color. It does a great injustice to his painting ability to have that thing next to his squad....Put some more energy into this stuff if you want to be creative. If you are just playing local, use beer cans if you want, but if you doing the tourney thing...show some pride and show others that you care about your whole army and not just little parts.

I hope to have such a death--lying in triumph upon the broken bodies of those who slew me.

Isn't it legal to use a scratchbuilt model for ANY vehicle???

Do people even read the threads anymore before posting? It's not like any of this wasn't already mentioned on the first page... I guess some people have the idea that owning ridiculously overpriced, poorly cast and difficult to assemble (but beautifully designed) drop pods that aren't even Citadel models somehow entitles them to be pickled pork turds towards those that chose to use inexpensive, easy to build (but perhaps not as beautifully designed) drop pods that also aren't Citadel models...

Do you ever get tired whining about prices? If this hobby costs too much for you, go play golf.

.Only a fool believes there is such a thing as price gouging. Things have value determined by the creator or merchant. If you don't agree with that value, you are free not to purchase.
