Hey I have an Idea for the Necron: Just add 5 Monoliths together to a pyramid-like vehicle, et voilà a freakin huge Monolith!
Superheavies would indeed fly of the shelves by themselves...heck, even I would buy my Eldar and Tyranids one.

there are 1 or 2 necron superheavies in epic, and there's the rumored super tomb spyder.

Posted By Alpharius on 02/19/2007 5:20 AM Posted By Lordhat on 02/18/2007 12:15 PM G.W. IS gearing up for large scale battles in the near future. Things to look for in the near future: plastic Baneblades, buy 2 get one free tank sales, plastic drop pods @ the beginning of next year, and of course the new Chaos dex, in oct, or november, can't remember which. I've heard a new race is scheduled too, but no rumors on what it'll be. Come on now! I've heard all of the other rumors listed here a few times over. All, that is, except for the "new race" one! You're making that up, aren't you? (Of course, I'm the only one who took the bait...) Well, I've said it before and I'll say it again "I know a guy who knows a guy". Anymore specific and it'll be "I know a guy who knows a guy no longer in the know", if you know what I mean. All the items listed are reliable information. The new race is a rumor, but it's a rumor from a reliable source. Whether or not it'll see fruition.... that's another story.

Well, I am sure everyone here has read most of the rumors.
I have been told by quite a few sources that are reliable that the Baneblade is a for sure go, and that the Stompa will most likely be a go too so long as the Baneblade sells well. I was also told that the baneblade will be around $100 US or so.
I have not heard anything about a new race, and all of the rumors i have seen and read indicate that the codex release schedule is pretty set for the next two years and that Orcs and DE will be up in '08 along with a Marine relase.
I for one am really excited about Apocolypse. However, I have heard and read so many different things about it, often contradictory, that it is hard to figure out exactly what it will entail outside of the most basic: very large games of 40K.
Any additional models such as plastic Valkyries, etc. would be nothing but great, IMO. I would love to play a large game of 40K that lasted more than 6 turns and represented large scale manuevers, sieges, etc. Any additional stratagems to represent larger battles would be very cool to me at least, and provide an alternative to the basic game.
anyway, take any rumor with a grain of salt.

The Tau have a super-heavy flier (Manta? I think...) that is their "equivalent" to a Titan. Forgeworld makes it and it is freakin' 'uge! Tau players outnumber DE players by an order of magnitude.
Yeah, my original quoting made it seem as though the focus was on the Dark Eldar, when it was actually on the Tau. I changed it soon after. My comment on the flier stands, though.

Sooooo....a rumor of a "new" race, an upcoming release of "larger scale" battles, and a bunch of super-sized models set to be (maybe...eventually....possibly?) released? You know, in Epic, when it was Space Marine/ Legio Titanica/ Titan Legions, there was one race that seemed to have nothing BUT extra large and super-heavy vehicles. Ironic, since they were so squat in stature and size... Just a random thought...

Forgeworld also makes the very lethal Pylon which would fit nicely as a Necron superheavy. Edit: I still don't see how Apocalypse is going to work practically. EPIC works because the dudes are painfully small, allow maneuver. The rules are summarized to platoon level ( a formaiton firefight is effectively a 40K game). I don't see how any maneuver is going to be possible on one of these huge games, even on a 4 by 8 board. Other than one cool game of shoot em up once a year I don't see how this could be interesting-tactics need not apply.

I don't see how any maneuver is going to be possible on one of these huge games, even on a 4 by 8 board. One option would be to scale everything. Just divide it by 2 for example. Now infantry moves 3", etc. Seems clunky. The other option is that the new rules will just have bigger point value models. You might have a relatively normal battle, but with a pair of Baneblades (or equivalent) on each side. That way it's not really a bigger table, there's just more points stuffed into a couple models. Although, I did always think the FW Baneblade is sorta unplayably huge on the table.

It alters the balance between firepower and movement so shooty armies would receive a boost.

This new race buzz is about as interesting as hearing that we have to wait a whole nother year for the ORKS.
I've got a new idea for a NEW race, lets call them greenskins and get a codex out for them in a resonable amount of time. Maybe the greenskins could be warlike, and have scrap weapons and be based on our old race of orks. LOL
I've got another, as well. We could say that the new race could have been affected by gravity, and be almost like space dwarfs...

it's a 420 point monolith that can't move and can't teleport guys through it's portal to bing them back That's the whole Forgeworld system of "figure out how many points something is worth, then multiply it by 1.5 to 2, so that nobody can say it's unfair." Most of their stuff follows that rule of overcosting. It's actually also how they do their pricing, oddly enough.

Yeah - but can you honestly tell me that you don't want to go sell crack to buy some of their stuff? I've got a Vindicator, Rhino and a Dread I built with their stuff. It's great. I just don't really like the rules. They tend to be totally unrelated to the core rules (i.e. fliers). If I just wanted to paint cool stuff, FW is all I'd buy.
