Somewhere in south-central England.

If the rules are good you can use them with another set of generic SF figures. There are tons of cheap figures around, just not usually in plastic.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

And will continue

Just think about how cheap the figs would be if they were not painted and assembled....

That is the premium I am paying for, to then assemble, prime and paint them again?

Yeah! Just think if they were not painted and assembled they would be as cheap as unpainted/unassembled GW minis... err wait a minute...

Seriously I get what you are saying, but if you are going to build and paint regardless you will still end up at the same point for roughly the same cost as the GW mini's you are comparing them to.

burp.

Actually, since they are made in China, they should come out to be exceedingly cheap. Instead I am paying a premium for the assembly and painting.

Just wish they would come out with figs for those of us that don't want pre-paints.

I would be rather annoyed if GW did it also. Go from sculpting really nice metal figs to come out with pre-paints in something that to me is inferior quality to what they used to produce.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

Man don't lose sleep over it, just let it go and don't get the game.  Your going to give yourself an ulcer.

As far as the rules for Confrontation, I don't see anything wrong with 3.5 and think the game runs great.  I just hear and read lame excuses because people try and look for the ways to break the game on every turn of the corner.

The rules are very intuitive.  The unit by unit activiation sequence alone makes this game a winner to me; I never liked the you go - I go of 40K.  Additionally, the rules let you move then shoot, shoot then move, or shoot, move, assault; machine guns, grenade launchers, and missile launchers can shoot in the same turn that they moved and can select a different target than the rest of the squad....lots of tactical flexibility that will make small games just as much fun as large ones.  Leaders are there to use leadership points to enhance the army, not to be one-man death machines; even friendly fire is covered with a simple but elegant mechanic.

I've already planned out my White Stars platoon; just waiting for some more units to be released to complete it.  It breaks down to a Captain leading three squads of nine men each with two missile launchers in squads one and two and two machine guns in squad three, a squad of three TacArm troops, and a squad of three Fire Toad combat striders.  With additional war gear this comes up to 1956 points.  I haven't worked out a Therian list yet.

Regards,

V

Yeah, Unit by unit activation is awesome. I'm also a big fan of Shoot then move or move then Shoot. It very flexible.
