Besides, we all know that PP is really ripping off The Maxx; more specifically, the Iszes.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

Sign me up under "meh". Plagarism aside, the head is really the only thing I do like on the figure. It's all been said before, the pose, the wings, I'll throw in the disproportionate legs which are WAY too small for the body. It's also gonna be hell keeping the facing consistant since he's looking at a 90° angle to his body.

As for PP ripping off other scources, who cares. In case you haven't noticed, EVERYTHING they do is just a rehash of something else. It's just rehashed in a new enough way so you usually don't care. Whether intentional or not, at least they're ripping off good scources for it (at least the head). Should have ripped off the rest, maybe we'd have gotten a decent looking fig out of it.

In case you haven't noticed, EVERYTHING everyone does is just a rehash of something else.

Fixed your post.

Everyone needs to take a step back from the 'ripoff' allegations. Influence is a more appropriate term. Both figures are obviously influenced by Giger. Both systems are obviously influenced by a variety of well know sources. As is practically everything else in the fantasy and sci-fi genres.

There is no shock here.

Facing is easy. According to the rules you use head facing. As long as you clarify
this at the beginning of the game (a lot of people use shoulder facing) then it's no
problem.

Heh, some fanboys will cry ripoff to anything. Even a poorly proportioned monstrosity, apparently.

Up your nose with a rubber hose.

But it's a monster. How do you know if it's poorly proportioned or not? According to Gray's Anatomy for Monsterologists, that particular sculpt is the most lifelike to date.

this model blows chunks man.  Seriously.  Sure, PP fanbois will claim its awesome, while secretly admitting its a chunk of monkey crap, but for real, let's critique it as bad as GW models get critiqued.

Wings.  Do they work?  Can this model fly?  They should be at least twice as big as that.  Those are puny, and could work if it's  actually propelled by other means and his cape is for show (like superman).

The neck.  Yikes.  Its huge, like a bloated giraffe.  Its way to big for his body.  Its so big that it is melding with the deltoid muscle in his shoulder, and has a lateral crease to separate the two.

His torso/size of legs.    Boost the size of his legs, or shrink his torso.  His torso is actually quite cool, if not for that ugly stump of a neck he has, so the legs need to be bigger.  This dude looks like he would fall over if he where to try to move.

That sword.  Whats up with that?   His hand is positioned in a very unnatural way, and would require his arm to have an extra joint in his wrist to come straight out like that.  Why is the sword so short?  Is this a 2 handed short sword?

The good:  The head.  That's dope.  I wanna jack that head and put it on a real model.

See this guys fixes for that god;y craptastic awful sword/arm:

The musculature of that torso is awesome, just lose the ugly neck.

Here is what he fixed, which sums up my probelms with it:

tattered wings
took off the spike
made neck thinner
writs/legs thicker
sword broadswordish

The thread of blind fanboi praise over at the PP forums is hillarious!

I now have to officially start playing Everblight. Never have I seen something that rivaled the expectations I had from the original artwork in NQ. I tried playing just one Faction in Hordes, Trollbloods, and, until recently, succeeded. After seeing the blighted ogrun (ONI!), Rhyas, and the Nephilim,........

Privateer Press may you be cursed with having such fine sculptors and artists FOR ALL ETERNITY!!!!!

Best model ever! I'm going to get at least 2!

Wow, awesome. Everytime I paint or play with my Legion I think these guys couldn't get any cooler, and then you prove me wrong. Keep it up, and thanks.

LOL!  ROFL!   Flame on fabois, but while PP has a crap load of absolutely brilliant and beautiful models, this one is down right monkey dung.

Exalt, Elusive.

And about the wings. I actually wish they were smaller. If you wanted
realistic wings in your monstrosities, I don't think ANY fantasy model, much
less dragonkin, would be capable of flight (bird shaped creatures being the
exception, of course). The game rules for this thing is that it "glides," which
is silly as well, but it's only use is for combat, if I recall. I think it just makes
more sense to call it magic.

You people do realize you're arguing about proportions on a model from a fantasy world right?

I mean, it's supposed to be a result of a dragons genetic manipulation coupled with throwing a bilghted elf soul into the body to get the model they okayed for release.

And as Malfred points out.. no it doesn't fly. I can glide a short distance extending it's charge range.

Besides, everyone knows that any monster that has wings doesn't actually use the laws of physics to enable flight. they use ... dun dun dun.....

MAGIC! Holy Jebus! MAGIC ... imagine that. In a game full of half elf dragon monsters, giant elephants with 4 arms, and dragons the size of cities... Magic makes things fly...

Mario could glide with just a raccoon tail!

The miniature does blow though. It looked alot cooler and menacing in the artwork.

No, we are arguing the proportions of a miniature sculpture for a game. And some of us have the audacity to not like it because of the goofy neck and spindly legs. The horror!

I really like PP's games but I am getting really sick of some of the drooling apologist fanboys. Why is it so hard to admit that some people won't like something they churn out? And aren't the devil for disagreeing with you....

Sorry, I didn't mean to put anyone in a tailspin with my sarcasm.

I just think it's hilarious that people are arguing about the proportions of a miniature for a fantasy game where people push around other metal miniatures on a table for fun.

It's not like you're buying a sculpture from a Renaissance period artist and finding out you got sent something by Picasso instead.

If you don't like it fine.. don't buy it.

I think it would be more fruitful of the people that don't like it to complain about it to the company that produces it instead of on a thirdy party site where no Privateer Press employee will read about it's dislike.

As for fanboyism.. where do you get that from my post if that is what you were inferring? I think the sword could have been bigger, and a little more bulk added to his legs also. I just don't think complaining to Tom, Dick, and Harry here makes a difference.

I used to be a member of this forum ages ago, but really got put off by the attitudes and became a lurker for many moons. i remember now why.

Like whitedragon, I find the artwork far more menacing. For me it was
because the wings were smaller and the torso/legs matched up a bit
better.

But those rules...holy crap he's 71 points and a light warbeast? So cool...

I wasn't directly reffering to you with that comment, more the clips taken from the PP comment. Sorry about the confusion.

I find it funny that people complain about people complaining, etc. Additionally, there are many good artists out there. I have sold a number of painted miniature pieces, won painting competitions, etc. and have been drawing, painting, and sculpting for years. So while I may not be a Picasso, I know my art. And I won't be buying it (unless Legion keeps being the strongest Hordes faction, of course) . Complaining helps people vent and is *nothing* new to Dakka. If you think this is bad, you should see some of the GW threads!

I usually just lurk on the PP boards, too. Mainly because they are full of idiots. Like most internet forums. Just last week, I got "corrected" on rules twice in the Cryx forum by posters with 6 months experience (both wrong, of course).... Keep in mind that I have been playing and posting since 2003.

No harm, no foul.

I'm building up a Legion army also, and plan on having at least a few of these because their rules are awesome.

Hopefully the next sculpt won't be as spindly.

My Da used to tell the best Brad, Dick and Harry stories (Brad's my brother). One time they had this awesome Tyrannosaurus Rex in them that I shot. It hurts so bad that this fig isn't even a percentage as cool as a T-rex, not even the one from Jurassic park 2.

Really, PP could have done a much better job. with the fig, since the rest of  the Legion figs are so cool.
