I am most impressed by the Possessed. The metal figs look kind of sketchy (though I like the Khorne Lord), but that might just be the picture. The plastics look incredible.
They really do look quite good.

DAMN it GeeDub, I wanted to let my nice painted Chaos boys be done so I could play some fantasy. But no, now I've got to find more $$$ to get more Chaos stuff to paint up ...
I am truly happy to see some chaotic Chaos models for once, especially all those possessed bitz. I would consider getting a possessed set, the Chaos upgrade sprue, and some loyalists and going to town.
But all of the chainsaws between the lord, terminator, possessed sprues?
*orgasmic O_O*
Thank you for the pics, I no longer care what happens with the rules or all my invalidated models. Le sigh ...

Dear Games Workshop, Please browse the comments on this thread. You will see that your customers are very happy with the miniatures you are giving us, and in fact are willing to pay a premium price for plastic figures, as long as said figures are premium quality. Where your customers are unhappy is with the quality of your rules and your rules support. Please keep this in mind going forward. You have delivered on your promise of great miniatures. Please deliver on your promises regarding FAQ and errata as well. Thank you.

Great, just great... I already have over 18,000 pts. worth of Chaos... guess it's time to build my next generic chaos force! Very nice models, and for those griping about the Lord with Jump Pack, the first thing I thought of when I saw him was "He's a Kite!" So I'm currently imagining a diorama with a Carnifex standing in a grassy field, with a small hormagaunt (or 3) watching him flying a Kite... -Vilegrimm

Not bad. There's a good amount of sharp detail there, but the whole "more spikes is better" theme is pretty laughable. Built to spec, the chaos marines wil be more clowny than the harliquins. I suppose spikes are easy enough to cut off, though.
I note that the heavy bolter is the only heavy weapon option to come with the kit. Boo to that.

So thinking about it now, I'm kinda ashamed at being blinded by all the bling that I can't afford and don't have time to build or paint. I just finished 1500 points of painted Chaos - my first painted 40k army in many many years of doing this - and I'm gonna have to go back to being angry at the nerfbat and crappy rules. Sorry GeeDub, but the tears of my gorgeous and now generic demonettes tip the scale when compared even with all this chaotic awesome. Ahhh, anger and grumbling until September at least, when either the codex doesn't suck or the models turn out to really be that good - Boss Salvage

Erm, wow.
Like HBMC, the current CSM box is my favorite GW plastic kit, and this looks much better. 24 heads in a 10-man box. My only complaint would be that with all the extra stuff we don't see more shoulder pads (as of the five extras, most appear to be aligned to specific gods -- but even still, you only get one more total pad than heads, and you need half as many heads...). Heavy weapons other than heavy bolters would be nice, but one can hope we'll see a havoc box. But hell, the plastic devs are beautiful enough and easy enough to convert to fit in.
The loyalist termy kit is up there as well, and these look even better. I sincerely hope that terminators in the new Chaos codex are viable, because I'm going to model up a set of them, and I'd like to be able to use them most of the time...
Not sure what to think of the possessed without seeing them actually assembled.
One thing that's curious, though, is that the rumor is CSMs get bolter, bolt pistol, and ccw as standard equipment, but the sprue is conscientiously set up to allow either 5 bp/ccw or 5 bolter marines; seems like a lot of extra plastic if the modeling isn't going to make a difference rules-wise.

I suspect (just a hunch) that they'll get Bolters and Bolt Pistols as standard, with the option to exchange the Bolter for a CCW.
That's how it's done with Blood Angels and Dark Angels.

Woh, I'm pumped for these releases. Sucks that the pictures aren't from both sides (to show the chest plates and all the standard options) or big enough to show much detail. Regardless, this is a hugely awesome set of pictures! Reminds me to the old days of frequent leaks So I guess this is what the French call "super tight".

That's what we all hope, but the rumor guys over on Warseer keep specifically saying they get all three plus frag and krak grenades.

Posted By Clang on 06/11/2007 11:12 PM those possessed wings are going to be real popular for winged tyranid warrior conversions I'm not so sure. Those wings are fused together into a single backpack instead of being two seperate arms (which is what you really need for Tyranid Warriors). There just isn't anyplace on a Warrior model to mount those wings (without some signifigant back carapace conversion). So unless people are separating the wings and GSing extra arms or filing down the Warriors' back carapace I don't think these will be to popular for that conversion. Plus, I'm sure the price to order that whole sprue (or even just buy the wings off of BWbits) will cost pretty close to the price for FW Warrior wings (about $10 for a set of wings).

I agree with Yak; you're better off picking up some wing sets from Reaper and either drilling holes in your warriors or pinning/GSing them in arm slots somewhere. They're not going to be very big, but that's okay, as they are crazy sci-fantasy aliens anyway...

I agree no one (ok, _almost_ no one) will buy the possessed sprues just for the wings to make nid conversions, but I reckon places like BWBits are going to sell a pile of those wings - GW makes no other plastic batwings around that size. Certainly some chopping will be necessary to get them to fit a nid warrior body, but I fully expect to see some modellers do so with great success.
And of course they'll also be great for Chaos conversions - Demon princes, alternative Raptors (for those who hate the jump-pack look) etc etc

Posted By Asmodai on 06/11/2007 6:07 AM The models are indeed gorgeous. I have 3 1/2 unpainted armies in my closet though... Oh well, hopefully I'll have at least one of them done by September. I sold my crons so I only have 2 unpainted armies. (I'll only admit to having one) But... I do have one completed IW army that I'm afraid will be useless in a few months. No matter as I'm not all that impressed with the plastics. GW just seems to be releasing the same things over and over again. Personally I don't think anyone needs marked Lord models as much prefer people's unique conversions to some overly priced, mass-produced plastic.
