Actually I just though of somthing. You could take the granadiers doctrine and drop in more plasma at BS4, which will allow you to have 2 per squad and the plasma pistol for the sgt at 5 shots BS4. Also you wont need to waste points on excess models. Just buy the minimum. Which is like 5 troops I think. That will save you some points. It will be roughly (going off of the top of my head) 80 points 10 more than your squads but 5 plasma shots at BS4. However, I dont know that they will be able to DS. Actually I dont think they can which sux. You could also try upgrading you sgts in your squads to vet sgts so you can give em a plasma pistol Thats one thing that irritates me about guard. Most of the other armies allow you to pay points per model. I HATE that you have to go all or nothing with guard. Meaning buy 10 guys or nothing at all. When all you really want are the special weapons. I think they should have a minimum or like 5 guys, (sgt included). I dont see they we are crippled like this.
