I gotta agree, Duncan, you're kind of out of line saying that you know that much more than we do. When it comes down to it, you're a player like the rest of us and are subject to the same flaws.
The missions in the Damocles box are for beginners, the missions in the book are to your interpretation. They are the ones used in every tournament i've been in at a few different stores, I've used them to teach beginners, etc. It's up to how you want to use them. There is nothing stating in the rulebook that they are not standard missions.
At the end of the day, play how you'd like. Just don't try to make your "standard" everyone elses standard. As I said, 4 X 4 is our standard, maybe I'll try 4 X 6 to see how it plays out but I doubt it will be a good experience for us for the reasons I stated.
And to show how pompous Duncan really is, this was in my inbox waiting for me:
Maybe i forget to tell
My team is besides translation of Confrontation and Rackham also doing game design for Rackham, so we should know how the game is intended to be played.

You know, this is why writers don't publish anymore; the plebian class is just going to misunderstand their art, fail to appreciate the majesty before them and misinterpret the whole thing.
C'mon, guy. You can do better. Games, like literature, are played (interpreted) by the players (readers). Authorial intent, while nice to have, is not the be-all and end-all of the gaming/reading experience. This is one person's experience of ACTUALLY PLAYING the game. I'm sorry it doesn't measure up to your experience, but that doesn't make it 'wrong'.
By the way, MY experience playing the game does not match up with your description either, and I LIKE the scenarios in the book. Knowing that, feel free to inform the 'fun police' so they can take my little plastic French dollies away, lest I further corrupt the youth of America.
And "Moby Dick" is about Ireland, authorial intent be damned!

I don´t have to say that I know more, I do know more. But for the exact same reasons many of my colleagues no longer do actively attend forums. It is a shame that people from the business no longer can post anything without being the victims of the envy of some.
But go on, the more such people plush up their ego by doing things like this, less and less information will be relayed in advance to the gamers.
Oh, and it is considered bad behaviour to publish private messages, not that I care, but someday someone will be not so nice to you if you keep this habit.

I don't think anyone here will ever be envious of you. They might pity you. But not envy.
I will be putting more stock into what the actual gaming community is putting down here, not what a paid employee tells me to think.
On that note, the Intro set definitely seems like it would be a hell of a buy for the level of gaming I currently have available in my home (my 2x4 Autumn table). And upgrading the forces (or buying new ones!) doesn't seem like it'll break the bank either. The rules definitely sound interesting from what I've read here, something I'll have to look into more as I've downloaded a ton of AT-43 stuff from the websites, just haven't read ANY of it.
How many points are in the initiation set exactly? Just trying to get a feel for the size of armies in ratio to points.

The intro set is a great buy. I didnt buy it however as the only units in it that I would have needed was a wraith golgoth. (I am a therian and a redblock player, so most of whats included I wasnt interested in)
Besides, having the advanced rules was my main need as I was already into the game after playing with a friends initiation set. So I decided that I would actually save money by not buying damocles and just getting what I wanted. I am not regretting avoiding damocles, now that I have the advanced rules.
But thats just me.
I really think that Damocles is a great place to start, especially if your interested in one faction, and you have a friend who would want the other. You each buy one and split the jink.
That said, You can make about 475 points of U.N.A going by what the U.N.A armybook says, and 690 points of Therians, going by what the Therian armybook says (I dont have the damocles set, so I know this is different in there for the initiation rules).

Say, are these minis the right size to sub into 40K as well? Two game systems with one wad of cash sounds very appealing. Red Blok with Kolossi/IG Light Infantry with Sentinels (or drop Dreads) look like they would match up nicely.
Might anyone be so kind as to report whether the infantry fig scales are about even?
EDIT: Forgot about Wee Toy Soldiers. Belay that last request and thanks anyways. Looks like subbing AT-43 for IG isn't going to work. However, borrowing 6 of the walker-thingies from the local gamestore to use as a surprise Dread drop pod army complement in a future pick-up game of 40K will certainly work.

Right. This was a really interesting fight.
People getting pissed because they use different table sizes. I must say neither part conjured a decent argument, but insulting Idaho was just plain childish - he used his arguments to which the response was sad. And I'm sorry to say this, because I have a good measure of respect for Hellfury out of his posts here and on Warseer, Grey Death had recently left a good mark with (if I'm not mistaken) some very nice Space Marines, and about 2.0... I just thought his avatar was cool.
On with it, anyway - I've been interested in this game since it was announced, just too bad about the miniatures being pre-painted. I've heard that they're of a rubbery sort of plastic, is this true?
EDIT: Good grief, Zardoz. Hadn't seen that here in a while.
