I am so stealing this idea. I would never try to claim the advantage in play, but the modelling opportunities are too awesome.

And its given me an idea to convert my future commandoes to all be holding cardboard cutouts of space marines and shrubs and things they can hide behind when anyone is looking their way.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

I agree, but I think you know as well as I do that there are some A-Holes out there who WOULD do it "accidentally" on purpose.

Back in the day, I ran with some of them (but never.... EVER... was one).

Yeah, it was just a pic posted by someone (I can't remember whom anymore) to give an example of what a "magic cylinder" essentially was for another poster who couldn't really grasp the concept.

Pretty funny.

Y'know. I think what I'm gunna do, is move the plate to one side of the vehicle. Make them no larger than the vehicles, and put them on every vehicle in my KoS. That way, when I set my army up for display, it's just one long diorama. Ok, I'm guuna go hit the modeling table. Pics when I'm done.

Thanks for saving me from certain physical pain!

Oh, here’s those Kommandos: http://www.the-waaagh.com/images/photos/gf1.jpg

"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism." -Hermann Goering (high ranking Nazi)

you could totally get away with one. Also model some Orks "sneekin'" behind terrain, out of manholes, etc.

In the rule book there's a counter which is only a slugga hand and half an ork head with water effects. You could do a hole army like that.

I remember the smiling waving humie on a sheet of white cardboard being held up with a green hand. I loved the idea, and have thought of copying it.

If the billboard covered the vehicle and as a stealth wartrakk I would go with it, consider the billboard part of the model for all purposes. You would need to account for the billboard when you work out your guns LOS though. The billboard should be mounted on one side of the wartrukk, orbetter yet surround it as a cardboard cylinder.
Yes it should have los blocking if the conept is sound: i.e the stealtgh billboard is not too big, its crewed by kommando models, there are vision slits for the driver and a raised gunport for the twin linked big shootas which are probably painted in keeping the your happy skyline.

Hey i did that with 1/35 scale tanks as my preds in my SW army. All my tanks were big. My rhinos and my dred aswell. the marines were tru scale so they were in scale with the larger tanks. I even won best army for it. Some ass did moan but when i proved they were in scale by bring out a normal marine and a normal rhino and then mine he had no leg to stand on. New idea: Mirrors! One of the buggies will have real mirrors instead of a billboard.

I think it's one of the funniest ideas I've seen in 40k for a while - and viable (just hear me out before the flames start).

In a GT you're going to be playing games at the different levels (Alpha, Gamma, Omega). All of the Omega games include "concealment".

Make them removable, and make one for each unit in your army. Then use them as the "concealment" markers for your army. Just remove them whenever a unit does something that takes away their concealment.

That way you get to use your funny conversions and you're not breaking / abusing any rules. You're simply using them to mark a units status rather than trying to block LOS.

Proudly wasting bandwidth since 1996
