@hellfury, Thanks for the kudos man, I too remember the days when having a steel stud implanted in your forhead *meant* something lol

Do you guys naysaying the orphan bitz realise how many different iterations a given design must go through before it's put in production? I for one would rather see those that "don't make the cut" included on the sprue as random/alternate bitz than end up on the floor of the stuido...

My only gripe is that I will expect it on ALL the new sprues now! (where's all the alternates??)

I was happy enough with the rokkit and big shoota anyway. I needed all the extra weapons I could get!

Your username has to be the coolest. Damn, it just reminds me of the good ol' days when rogue trader was cutting edge.

QFT. When I saw your username in the "who's online" section I was instantly jealous. Props to you.

OT: Am I the only one who loves the megablasta bit, gauntleted hand and all? Time to go max out a list with them, in fact ...

Um.. so who is the player actually using an ork mek in a squad of lootas? Isn't everyone just converting up the 5th loota?

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

My gripes not with the ork sprue per se, but with the principal. I do know that with orks the arm thing usually isn't a problem but I've also had the issue with other sets in the past, and not just 40K. Can't rememebr which but I bought a regiment set once, saying parts included for a command section (which I assume to be the champion, standard and musician) but the musician wasn't included. It's just anoying that if they say somethings included, then it should be included, not 'most of this option included, make the rest yourself'. Modeling is the most enjoyable part of the hobby for me so I don't mind the little bit of work, it's just annoying at times.

Some thought has gone into the sprue, one weapon has the 2nd arm, another is mad to fit a standard arm so why miss out the other arm. Do they not consider the kids that play who don't yet have the skill to play? Yes they probably dont care anyway but the ammount of money that is spent by the younger generation/their parents make them valuable customers. If the sprue is designed for those that can convert the peice then this should be on the box for good practise if nothing else. They put on 'supplied unasembled0'etc. Models may vary from those shown doesn't cover a bit not being there for me really, legally it may do but like i said, if it shows having an option then it should have the option. If this is stated on the box then my apologies, havn't actually looked at one that closely yet.

Hope that clarrifies my point.....
also one of the 'older' goblin spear arms had the opposite arms hand (think it was a right arm with a left hand). Just something that again you'd expect to be picked up in QC.

our point is that the principle now is better than the principle before when they wouldnt give you the extra bits at all.

be glad tht you now have these extra bits basically for free rather than how it was in the past whereby to get an extra bit you had to remove possibility of building a model at all.

I agree, having the bits there is an improvement from the old buy it extra blisters but it''s still anoying for some people I know. Also bear in mind that when they wern't included during 2nd edition you did get the plastic models at a lower price, I remember they usually had 8 for £5. Yes they were no where near as good in quality but the cost of producing doesn't increase that much, the methods are still the same, they just use more computer now, so for a plastic squad with the one metal heavy weapon you used to pay roughly the same as now for having the plastic options in the squad box. £rd edition was the more expensive but the sudden improovement in the models meant buyers didn't mind to much. Now that they are including more 'free' bits (they're not actually free) then surely they should include the whole bit and not force gamers to convert if they don't want to. It's nice to have the option there and personally I would convert but I also help some young children who I live with and they havn't got a chance of being able to do a simple conversion such as this. It just seems that GW can get lazy sometimes and not check their products carefully for quality, or don't consider their customer base properly when making the kits. yes I do know they recomend for 14YO or older but surely they know that younger kids still play, as they are just as regular gamers in store as some of the older generations. A little extra thought would go along way to helping the younger folks, who are going to be the ones hopefully buying the products for a longer period and introducing more people to the hobby. If they anoy these with poor kits then they may loose the next lot of people coming up throgh the ranks.

I think my point is more it's bad business sense to produce poor kits rather than 'encouraging' people to get more invovled with the hobby. Yes they should be encouraging people to be inventive and convert as that brings in business, but there other ways of doing it rather than missing bits out of the kit. I'm taking generally about this not speciffically about the new ork frame, please don't shout 'you have plenty of spare arms' at me

Right. It's like when you buy a car, and the air conditioning doesn't work properly... you shouldn't complain about it, because last year's model didn't include air conditioning at all...
