Alright, as Chaoslord has pointed out, we're pretty far off topic at this point. I think we can all at least agree that Stelek can beat the dwarf players at his FLGS. Whether that translates to 'all dwarfs suck and are boring' is up for debate.

From what I see over at the brewery, successful lists tend towards anvil lists, gunlines, or hordes, with some interesting stubborn squeeze builds.

The stubborn squeeze involves Strollaz, hammerers, the Rune of Kingship and miners coming in from the back. Dash in enough shooting to protect yourself and it's a pretty interesting (and reportedly high performing list).

If you want some examples of all of these, come on over to the brewery (same as that GT report) and check it out.

Last pinch of OT: Ahh, Red_Zeke, the voice of reason. I also second the suggestion of Stelek bringing us batrep of his lizzies vs dwarves.

Hey Red,
Yeah, I've posted a couple of lists over at the brewery (as well as this exact topic...) but I wanted to try and snag as much advice as I could get. The horde sounds like an interesting approach, although, I'm hesitant to convert/paint 150 chaos dwarves.

Over at Bugman's they have this notion that a horde has to be 140 or more models. Is this a consensus? Cypher, you hit upon this idea as well, but looking at your list of nasties, it seems like it would be hard to keep all of that under 2000 points. While directed at cypher, this really applies to anyone with horde/non-anvil experience.

cheers

Well I'll see if my buddy wants to play a game tomorrow.

I'll even take pictures if he does.

I'm sure I'll finally lose. lol

Sorry I didn't notice it there ether- I've been trying to cut down on my internet time lately.

As far as whether or not 140+ is consensus... that's not necessarily true. It definitely helps to go all out, but as you try to build your numbers up that high, you could stop along the way and test some alternate builds.

I'm thinking the data on successful horde dwarf lists is more limited- certainly you see more gunlines and anvil lists because if nothing else it's (as you've pointed out) a bit of a bummer to paint that many.

And a final note: How did I miss that this was for Chaos dwarfs?! Is this some kind of Dawi Zharr trick?!

I'm interested in the Horde of Dwarfs idea. I could field upwards of 4-5 Blocks, but I never seem to be able to fit in enough, especially at 2k.

Currently I'm looking for a way to squeeze in almost nothing but combat blocks, a Lord on Shield Bearers, and a Strollaz BSB. I figure a Cannon and 2 S7 BT's would be more than enough for shooting that I'd need to handle monsters I can't kill in CC.

The other option that came to me was the 3 hammerer block and miner/ranger support with a lord and strollaz BSB. This may be more powerful with the anvil, but the stubborn infantry always is nice.

Actually, he posted more posts after eachother because he was working on a response and while he posted someone else beat him to it, so he needed to make a second post for the latter's querry.

But back on topic: did you make a report already, since I'm really curious after how the list takes down dwarfs with so much ease.

i agree with Stelek in that dwarves are pretty weak in my area as well. O&G or dwarves are usually regarded as an easy win in our local tournaments. but that may be a combination of weak book + newbie players. a lot of newbies buy Battle for Skull Pass and split models with their friends. sadly both players get stuck with crappy army books.

at the last tournament in my area i played my all goblin army as a goof and still managed to beat the most seasoned dwarf player in our area as my only win of the day.

When I'm in power, here's how I'm gonna put the country back on its feet. I'm going to put sterilizing agents in the following products: Sunny Delight, Mountain Dew, and Thick-Crust Pizza. Only the 'tardiest of the 'tards like the thick crust.

Around here Thorek...err, I mean Dwarves, are very competitive. Gunline/Anvil lists mostly. I saw one marching dwarf army, but they sort of got stomped.

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).
