Ah, the chants of 'Don't roll a 1!' that resounded about 6 times a game.
Basically, once a character survived a game things got much better. That first time was a killer though.
There were some holes, like being able to use healing items at any time, and how travel to and from a dungeon was more dangerous than actually being in said dungeon. Getting screwed over by the travel table was just terrible.
