Phoenix, you're mistaken. The model using D or G needs to be "one of the models in the vehicle's path."

I was thoroughly inspired by this thread and went into a match against guard last night focused to tank shock. I got my chance in turn four. I had my trukk in a perfect position and tank shocked through the following units in one run: 10-man Infantry Unit, Heavy Bolter Squad, Missle Launcher Squad, and Lascannon Squad. The infantry squad and missle launcher squads passed their morale checks. The missle squad tried to DoG but failed and so I managed to put several of his heavy weapon squads on the run and no longer count as scoring with my cheap ol' trukk. It was great!!! Thanks Dakkaites!!!

Phoenix: I'm talking about using "Death or Glory". According to that rule, the model making the attack has to be under the tank's path of movement. What these formations do is pull the unit together so that any attempts at tank shock must go through a model with an appropriately dangerous weapon.

Interesting...apparently I need to read the rule a bit closer and consider the movement path of my tanks a bit more carefuly.

This is, unfortunately, true. Too many times I play against someone else and they are shocked when I do something that is legal by the rules but they had never noticed. Then - suddenly - I'm the poor sport for "abusing the details of the rules".
Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb.
