Considering how bum Fire Warriors are, and how skimmers have been downgraded, it is not inconsiderably depressing to find that suits have been bollixed up as well.
Thank God we still have Vespids and Sniper Drones!

Drones arn't broken, they're just not as good as they were befor as they'll only take a % of the shots, not all of them.

I could be wrong here, as I don't play Tau,..but do hear me out.
The Tau vehicles got *way better* in 5th edition for the following reasons.
Disruption pod: You get the 4+ "armor" save as long as you move 6"
Upgrade that lets them count as "fast skimmers" who's name I can't recall: Lets you move 6" and fire all weapons on-board, regardless of strength.
Not to mention you can use your pathfinder's devilfish to transport a squad of firewarriors out and get them where they need to be.
Seems to me that Tau, despite the fact that shield drones aren't much good, are coming out pretty okay in my mind.
Just my thoughts on that.
Take it easy,

I take your point.
It's just that shield drones are supposed to be a defining characteristic of Tau, also Broadsides are practically worthless without them.

If I had any trust left in GWs ability to understand cause and effect, I would say something along the lines of; "But surely GW will release a FAQ that makes Drones mimic the equipment and stats of the assigned unit for the purpose of saving.".
Here's to blind hope.

Kilkrazy wrote:Yes it was. They fixed them by adopting my suggestion that the shield drone takes the armour and toughness of the character it's attached to.
No, it wasn't. Mixed armour rule only applies to armour saves, not invulnerable saves. So unless you take Shield Generators on Suits, Shield Drones still don't work.

Shield drones take armour 2 if they are attached to a Broadside.
No doubt this could be disputed, though as it's a 4th edition Tau Codex rulen it's irrelevant to the 5th edition rule changes.
