Oh, and one other thing Yak - assume for a moment that I was correct and that troops on a building were not 'in it' and could actually be fired at normally, but by putting them there the building itself became (somehow) weaker. Would you see how that might be a WTF moment when reading the rules?

Of course! I didn't know you weren't aware that you couldn't fire on the troops on the roof.

Also in case you weren't aware, this rule applies only to impassable buildings that are occupied like vehicles. If the building is classed as a 'ruin' where the models can actually be placed into the structure then the building itself cannot be targeted.

yakface's 40K rule #1: Although the rules allow you to use modeling to your advantage, how badly do you need to win your toy soldier games?
yakface's 40K rule #2: Friends don't let friends start a MEQ army.
yakface's 40K rule #3: Codex does not ALWAYS trump the rulebook, so please don't say that!

More specifically, 'Ruins' and 'Buildings' are classed as two distinct types of terrain.

Buildings are treated like transport vehicles, unless set as Impassable Terrain at the start of the game.
Ruins are simply terrain.

I just got through listening to the podcast.

While I don't think it really had alot to do with design philosophy as the title would suggest, I think it was a fairly informative listen and am glad I took the time to do so.

I am glad GW did this. It brings back the human element that many complain seem to be missing from GW recently and this makes consumers more comfortable with the company. The insight into the intent and other random musing of the developers brings us into the process. Making us feel like we are part of what we buy, as opposed to being sold products to. This will reflect well upon them, even if they do get heaps of criticism for the content of their podcast.

I am assuming this is part 1 judging by the title of the cast.

I have to say I am eagerly awaiting the next one. If GW could do the occasional podcast like this, I honestly think that they can cover a plethora of previously unrealized areas of the hobby they sell.

As a person who is viewed as overly and often unnecessarily critical of GW, I just wanted to say that the grapes taste considerably less sour nowadays. Good on you GW. Keep up the good work!
