Thanks for the replys everyone. Definately is helping me stay motivated.
I took a break from painting, and converted up another half-squad of tac marines. As i mentioned before, i am still undecided about the shouldpad issue on the several guys with necron arms. I am waiting until i finish the painting on the first squad to see how i feel about them then.
Here is the combat squad (forgive the pic quality, it keeps going bright/dim in my apt today cause its super sunny, but with clouds... ahh the NW).
This dude has a bionic leg. It is pretty chunky, but i think it fits with the non-standardness of the army.
This guy will have a green rod powered backpack. The rod will be attached vertically at the bottom of the plastic elbow i made, and has a little cap for the other end. neither will get stuck on until after paint though.
And here is an assault weapon. Counts as plasma or meltagun or something along those lines (rules to be ironed out when the new codex hits)

as for shoulder pads on the necron arms you could make them like the necron destroyers, then it looks mech, and should make it look alot better.

Well i know i have been slacking on the updates, but I have been busy. I currently have 2 tacs squads converted and in process for painting. Here are some pics:
2nd Tac Squad:
Missile Launcher marine w/ destroyer head and robes:
Vet sarg with power weap and pistol (painting mostly complete):
Also a whirlwind conversion i started months ago that i recently picked back up. This wasnt originally intended to be part of this army, but it is a wacky variation on a normal SM vehicle, so it suddenly is getting added (though i prob wont be playing with it often).
the idea is that the missiles are contained within the extended hull, and fire through roof hatches. inspired by the doors on the top of nuke missile subs. obviously this needs all sorts of details added, but in general what do you think of the concept?
I also finished up the first of what will probably be 4+ tech marines. I just primed it and he is drying, but i will get pics of him tommorow so stay tuned...

I have been traveling all week, so I havent gotten a whole lot accomplished on this. I split a AOBR box with a friend and did manage to put together the termies. I also had the termy from the WD. I put the AC from my DA vet box on him (after trimming the DA stuff off) so i have a 6-man termy squad built and based.
I also started the AOBR dread, and i have to admit, for being basically 4 peices the thing is great looking. The seams between the two halves of the body/leg sections are in smart places so there arent gaps or anything like that. It really is a marvelous model (in fact, i would be interested in buying another one, if anyone doesnt want theirs... shoot me a PM)
I did manage to take some pictures of my first tech marine this morning. I am very pleased with the way he turned out. I was worried that I wouldnt be able to pull off the servo harness, but I am actually very happy with the way it turned out. I think he reps all the stuff that is on a servo harness tech marine (power weap, plas pistol, 2 power fists, flamer) pretty well even though his servo harness only has 3 arms instead of the normal 4. I am eager for feedback on what you think of this, so please hit me with criticism and comments.

Well i finished up the TL Lascannon arm for my AOBR dread. I wrestled with this quite a bit before i was really happy, but now that i finished the arm, i am really pleased with myself.
Initially i planned to create some homemade heavy gauss cannons like those used by heavy destroyers. It wasnt until i had actually built one of the 2 cannons that i realized how long the thing needs to be to fit 2 green rods lengthwise. The cannon i ended up with is insane. its nearly 2" long and that is just the "barrel" section. Once i had the thing in hand next to my dread body i knew it wasnt going to work (although i think it might make a cool Las cannon on a razorback or pred turret), so i went back to the drawing board. then i came up with the integrated double barrel approach that i am using now. It was still very necron-ish, but much more appropriately scaled for the dread body. Initially i planned to build the rest of the dread arm from scratch around the las bit i made, but then i realized i had the multimelta arm sitting there. Since i have 2 more AOBR dreads on order, and all 3 will be built with magnetized arms I cant imagine a scenario where i would ever field 3 multimelta dreads, so i started hacking.
Here is what i came up with:
loosely fit on the dread body:
I havent started any work on the actual dread body yet, but i am tossing around a few ideas to customize it some too. Next step will be to get the magnetization done. I havent ever done the magnet thing, so any tips/hints/tricks would be greatly appreciated. I would also love to hear where people get their magnets and how much i should expect appropriate magnets to end up costing (i am in the pacific nw if that helps).
As always, comments and criticism gladly accepted. I love the pat-on-the-back comments this thread is getting, but i am hungry for some constructive criticism too.

Yeah, Heavy Gauss Cannons are crazy long. Came to that conclusion when I was building one for my Destroyers. I like the look of yours. A lot of the marines tend to look like a marine with Necron parts strapped on. This cannon looks much more integrated, a truer melding of Imperial and Necron tech.
My thoughts for continuing, would be to look to the Tomb Spider claws for inspiration for the Power Fist. A Necron head to replace the skull on the right front would be cool. Also, covering over the winged skull on the sarcophagus with the Necron symbol would be a good way to show your loyalties on that nice flat central surface.

i like the dreadnought except that there's only necron parts on the right arm like a little necron parts on the torso would really do it.

@flamminggaunt: yeah, the arm is done but i havent actually started on the rest of the dread yet. I am kind of waiting on the codex before I really start on it so i know if there are options available that i want to includethat might influence the build (smoke, extra armor, etc)
@aduro: thanks for the feedback, definately appreciated. I had been thinking of making the fist more claw-like along the lines of what you see on some of the lords and some other models. I had forgotten about the t-spider though, I will definately take a peek at that. As for a necron symbol i am a little undecided on that. I cant decide if i want to go in that type of direction or if i want to do some big gear type plates on either side of the sarcophogas plate for that mechanicus theme. I have a grip of the necron transfers, so i have been considering using some of those runes on my vehicles and whatnot.

Amazing.
Seeing things like this inspire me to chop of my models and make something magnificent.
The Techpriest looks saucy and the Dreadnaught is impressive. I might suggest making the other arm more brutal looking, vague I know. On another note, I think the power ax on the one guy is fitting of a Necron-ish theme, since all of their guns are sort of a halberd (and Necrons seem more likely to just hack away mindlessly, IMO.).
Also,
Do you prime with Gesso? Where do you get your little metallic bits and pipes? I've seen those on other posts and have been curious for a while. I have always loved urban-basing, fighting in a city just seems so bamf .
Looking forward to more posts .
