They need to start advertising in the states. Most everyone in the UK is aware of the game's existence, but 90% of GW's target audience in the US have never heard of the game.

Man, that's the joy of Anime! To revel in the complete and utter wastefullness of making an unstoppable nuclear-powered combat andriod in the shape of a cute little girl, who has the ability to fall in love and wears an enormous bow in her hair. |

Surely the shrinkage in the US market (in previous years) argues that people did know of GW and lost interest.

1. Did she actually say Warcraft, or just the dubber?
2. One of the background images was from Firaxis Civilization III, not from any Games Workshop publication.
3. The producers of the program have bitten the 'its because of LotR' line for the drop in sales. This is patently crap. The interest has been salved by the films, GW is to blame or not maintiaining that interest.
After all Star Wars franchise items still sell very well, and LotR is of comperable scale.
This stock review likes to add a few soundbytes to make itself look clever, but shows a distinct lack of content for investors. anyone who takes on board what this bimbo (or in fairness her scriptwriter) has to say is being had.

Marketing isn't something that "you do" and then "you're good". Like putting gas into your car, you've got to keep it at a certain level at all times if you expect it to run. Shrinkage in a market indicates that you had a presence, which you then lost to competing interests. In this case, it could be described as more 40k hobbyists leaving than joining. GW is no different than a phone service or shoe manufacturer, if they're not actively competing in their demographic then they'll lose business.

That just means that fewer people joined the hobby then left it. Had GW advertised and thus encouraged more people to join, the trend might have been reversed.
Ask around at your work how many people have heard of 40K. You'll find the number around 10% even among men.

It is saturday go to your local GW store. you will find some people with some social skills that are questionable. including poor fashion and hygiene choices.
on the brightside our hobby on a whole isn't as bad as online gamers. The joys of games like warcraft is that some off the people that used to play in the early/mid 90's don't any more.
this is a hobby of nerds. If you play you are a nerd. you may be the coolest of the nerds but society still classifies you as a nerd.

Warhammer is Warcraft!!! Anyone else wonder about this? It amazes me that there are such people in this world who don't care to research time frames. When did warcraft come out? When did the personal computer come out? 1970s my #$%.
"And we all know that nerds aren't fashionable" This is true, but I think my jeans/t-shirt are a bit more upscale that your track suit. I make the effort to at least look like I didn't just wake up at about 2 pm on a sat and threw on whatever was on the floor. Though I suppose in some odd way that's a fashionable look.
Her cloaked comment of, "Haha! You're all nerds!" reminds me that most of the world act like children.

Unless you meant to go to http://www1.cs.columbia.edu/~wisam/ and are having a misclick adventure with Google, I am 100% positive that everyone visiting this site is a nerd. Chicks can be nerds too. So can successful people. So can the smelly, sweaty guy that cheats to beat 9 year olds. 'Nerd' is a very general label.
Furthermore, I lost whatever point you were trying to make in the midst of your poor spelling and horri-bad run-on sentences.

I'm sorry. I laughed at it. I think the voice-over wasn't horribly funny and a little overdone, but I must admit I laughed out loud at it.
I think it was intended to inject a little humor into a subject that many people find kind of dry. I think it is possible that a few of the people producing this play or have played miniatures and even may have come up with some of the little jabs at gamers.
I also wonder if the Warcraft "error" wasn't meant as humor that just didn't go over too well. Otherwise why wasn't it just edited out? I also got the impression the track suit was part of the joke, though I might be reading more into that than I should.
I really don't see any endorsement by GW here. I don't really know how this works as I do not work in media, but I imagine that GW may have sent some of their product over to get exposure and provide a visual to the audience of what they're selling ( I doubt the target audience is familiar with the product).
