Hopping on the pain wagon

That is actually a horrible horrible idea. As a daemon player this is one of the mistakes that I absolutely hope my opponent makes as it takes one of my major disadvantages and turns it into an advantage.

Daemons get half their army in on turn 1, you get whatever reserves you make on turn 2 - half on odds. You can come in far away, but if I deploy well I can still limit where you come in and force your hand.

Also, instead of me not being able to do anything with my mostly assault troops, I now am moving them into a position where they can potentially act immediately.

Coming in on reserves is a terrible idea versus Daemons. Point for point, Daemons are some of the most powerful units in 40k. The only saving grace for most armies is that they can't deploy en masse. Turning it into a reserves fight lets them chew through your army piecemeal.

I would agree that holding some units in reserve could help in missions where it would be to your great advantage to see where he lands the core of his units.

I have had a very tough time with balanced CSM and Nidzilla vs. all Nurgle Daemons. Yikes. He uses Epidemus and if you don't axe him soon enough and he runs up the tally, you are just DONE.

With everyone having an invulnerable save and immunity to instant death, life is tough. With T5 and FNP it is tougher.

Depending on what sort of army you use, the best you can do is either shoot at a safe distance and try to make them commit to assaulting one sacrificial unit or if you are assaulty, hitting a unit of daemons with multiple units, then splitting into one sacrificial unit and one countercharge unit.

I noticed vs. all-Nurgle that at a certain point the best you can do is deny objectives and try to hoard one of your own. They also seem to excel in DSing a scoring unit far away from the action to get that extra objective or Battle Point to secure the win.

I am not a very good player, so I usually just cry and whine afterwards.

When playing demons...

Mount up in landraiders and laugh at plaguebearers and the like. Kill the flamers, soulgrinder and shoot at the tzeench demon lord.
Or... 3 vindicators... think of them as sludge control.

Oh tight packed, just deep striked plaguebearers you are counting on to get your army in with no scatter? Let me see if you can survive 3 pie plates with your 5+ invulnerable.

That super tzeentch lord doesn't like getting hit. I think he is paying like 333 to field him and I believe if he takes a wound, he has to make a leadership test or he flits out of there. Admittedly this was painful but most demon armies do not like landraiders at all and for the 10 rear armor, I think I would trade off for 3 large blast Str10 AP1.
