Abaddon has one claw and a whacky stick. Horus had two claws, with bolters built in.
It also makes him more feral and evil-looking to have two claws, where the emperor has a big stick.

Originally I gave the Emp and Mr H more or less the same profile but with the Emp having a higher I. So the Emp could use his sword and go first or his fist and wound on 2+.

Mr. H had claws and went second but did more wounds.

So what would the stick do that would be interesting but not unbalance the two of them?

I was thinking something like the Whacking stick goes last but each unsaved wound is doubled. That's gotta hurt.

Or the Whacking stick is an anti-hoard weapon that Horus swings like a baseball bat. Allows 1 additional attack on each model in base to base but is NOT a power weapon.

i honestly like parts from both. i like the look of the second but really i too beleive Horus had a pair of claws. besides your telling me that claws cant clash with a sword? OF COURSE THEY CAN! besides Horus was a super UBER hardass in CC so to me it not only make sence that he has a pair of them, but just cmon! he has a PAIR OF THEM! make sure tho, you put the bolters on both.
and yea Abbadon and Horus werent pals at all. seriously i think it was ABBADON that really let the shields down on the battle barge. but thats just me

Allowing for who he is up againsr you would have thought he would raise his guard a little. In the newer picture he isnt even facing his opponent.

The emperor is also posing in the second picture, his sword arm is resting on his knee, whereas the original artwork Emperor appears to be taking Horus a little more seruiously.

Pride goes before the fall? Since he presumably felt he could best the emporer in single combat and all...

I recall an awesome fanfic version of this fight from the perspective of the dying Sanguinius (sp?) from many years ago, where horus does all his injuries to the Emperor because the Emperor can't bring himself to fight back against one he previously loves as his son, and then when he finally comes to see the truth, strips Horus of his chaos god backed powers and then blasts him into oblivion. So maybe that sword isn't all that important really

I dislike the older version of the photo, and it's the talon of horus. Not the talons. I can't remember a piece of fluff that stated that he had two, and even in the original pic it only shows one. The other hand is hidden behind his leg.

Its also pretty plain from the pictures that neither is in traditional termy or power armor. Both are probably using a custom designed set to match their unique physical natures.

I definitely think Horus has claws on both hands.

It's even in the 40k rules, Lightning Claws are used as a pair to be worth anything really because LC + 1h Mace = no bonus attack for having the mace.

The only thing I could see someone with a Lightning Claw having in their offhand would be something like a Powerfist specially for crushing tanks or stuff, that way the character could use Either the Claw or the Powerfist.

The mace seems like some stupid random aesthetic thing just to change it up from claw-claw.

does Abbadon even have the claw and sword these days? didn't they replace is equipment with "special generic character daemon weapon"?

Horus looks slightly more menacing in the original picture.

That's not because of the claws, but the B&W render and the light source to his face.

Well primarchs are supposed to be huge, almost twice the high of a marine in power armour, so terminators should be up to his chin or shoulders, and i would rather horus with sword, and bolt pistol as he often used before the heresy. (didnt he?) A wacking stick is hard to fight with, and clumsy so a sword and lightning claw would be better IMO, and he's too small, primarchs were huge and horus was very badass, but during the heresy he's described as being swelled with the power of chaos, so i imagine him taller then the emporer. Just my opinion, a bad one at that.
