You could also use existing plastic tech coils. The servoskulls on the devastator kit has some excellent ones! Some of the new orks have some great cabling too.

How thick are the strings you got? Do you have friends/family/etc who play guitar? You might want to get some d or g strings (no not those g strings...) which are the "thinner" sized ones with that wire like structure. Thinner ones are not that hard to work with, just get your hands on some pliers.

Of course you could also use thin iron wire as some sort of "skeleton" and do some greenstuff "ribs" around it.

Perhaps this piece of artwork might inspire you:

Ta for the tips people, but the string is still being an annoyance, so the Magos has been put to one side for now. Have been messing around with some pigments, weathering kits and a base, and got this;

Pic is a tad washed out, but I'm fairly happy with it, although, methinks I need some lighter rust pigment *hmm*. Thought I'd paint the skull as if it was weathered and burned, not sure I succeded.

C&C welcome,

Good start there on the base mate. The cog looks like it could use more shades of rust on it and maybe some scratches etc where metal shows through?

I didnt notice the skull at first but for ashes Mig Jiminez's guide recommends making small mounds with black pigment before droping smaller amounts of ashes white on top and then dropping a little "thinner for washes" (THE GUY SAYS THIS SO OFTEN IN THE GUIDE I FEAR I'LL NEVER FORGET IT!) on top to blend it. The results looked great in the vid.

Looking forward to seeing the magos.

Cheers,

I definitely think a little variation on the rust could go a long way. Maybe a bit more corroded than you have here.

Awesome work with the pigments. I need to get a set so bad...

Great job on the rust, I agree with grey_death that you should add some variations in the corrosion, however don't show any normal metal colours there as CMDante suggests, just try to maybe have some lighter orange like tints in it.

Awesome awesome awesome Aquila.

One thing, would you mind giving me a heads up on how you made the hood for the second guy? That's pretty great.

We laughed at him, we leagued with him, old chum.

We laughed - knowing that better men would come,

He wars on Death, for lives; not men, for flags.

What about including some heavy servitor, maybe even a Praetorian?

Over at the Anargo Sector Project we've got two pieces of artwork to represent this elite monster of the Adeptus Mechanicus:

Some ideas for Skitarii:

I think if anything, the second praetorian pic is closest to the way skitarrii are described in the novel "Titanicus" maybe a bit more organic though and decorated in the novel than the drawing.

Geez, I stop watching this thread for a minute and a rediculous amount of miniature goodness appears. I love the look of Ad-mech customs and yours surpasses most people because of the detail and individuality you have made in them. I bow humbly to your GS-fu!

Just a wee update so you all know I'm still working on this, albeit slowly. Dunno, mebbe I should do all his robes black, he is just a servitor after all, hmm.

What about doing them brown or grey, make it look as if the robes are made from the cheapest and most standard material out there. He is like you said a mere servitor.

I never thought I'd use one of these, but after being excited about a possible update after so long, and seeing nothing...

Alas, my hopes will remain dashed, I will seek my Admech needs elsewhere.
