Nice. Zaal, E-Morghul, and Hexeris are my fav casters for 750. Xerexes and Makeda I use at 500pts. Ferox have incredibel synergy with Zaal and Hexeris. E-Morghul I swap them out for mor troops to screen and set up charge lanes for Morgh or his beasts. Cast last stand on your Ferox, Feat and hit thier caster with power 20 hits.

Yeah. So far Zaal seems like one of my top contenders.

@Malfred

I've been thinking of starting Hordes, and so far I'm leaning towards The Circle.

I'm a big lycan fan, and the Pureblood and Warpwolfs just make me fill with joy. I've been trying to come up with a list using Kromac. Since I haven't even played a game yet, I was wondering what a fun themed game for say 500pts would be for a army using as much wolf and tharn units..

Sometimes you just have to let em' go...

oomiestompa probably knows better, but I'll try.

500 points is tough with Kromac. You've stated that you want both Lycans AND Tharn,
which is also tricky at 500 points. Part of it has to do with Kromac's two forms and part of it
has to do with the way Hordes works.

Kromac has a human form that only has 6 FURY. His best spell in this form is casting Brutality
on a unit of Tharn Wolfriders and cutting them loose.

In his beast form, Kromac has 8 FURY, which means he needs more warbeasts to power
his Fury and a good variety of abilities to make the most out of his fury.

Some Good animi for beast Kromac include:

Woldwatcher- Vigilance - Give multiple models the ability to activate on your opponent's turn.
Woldwarden- Undergrowth - Raise his DEF against shooting and protect him from non-reach non Pathfinder charges
Pureblood - Warp Blast - Shoot things at Fury 8. Also causes command checks
Woldwyrd - The One that lets you roll additional attack and damage against models with upkeeps

One Not so Good one

Warpwolf- Baying of Chaos

So starting with just Kromac, Pureblood and Warpwolf, you're already at 300 points. If you
put in Wolf Riders, you're averaging 374-425 points, depending on the number. It starts to
get really tight as two Warbeasts aren't really enough for Kromac in beast form, and your
army doesn't have much in the way of utility yet.

Yeah, I'll wait for oomiestompa.

I'll offer up some thoughts, but, having been away from my Circle for some time, I've never actually used Kromac. I do plan on fixing that soon, however, so I've been studying his rules.

Silverwarrior88, Malfred is right on about the animi. In Beast Form, Kromac can only cast the animi from his beasts, and he loses all the spells on his spell list. Unfortunately, the best animi in the Circle are from the various Wolds. Buuuuuuut, you're not looking for a powerhouse list. You're looking for "fun" and "themed". So I promise, no more talk about Wolds.

The Pureblood is Fury 5 and the Warpwolf is Fury 4. That's a combined possible 9 Fury generated each turn. That's just enough for Beast Form Kromac. That's good. But there's no redundancy. Once a wolf goes down, you'll need to cut yourself for Fury. Fortunately, Beast Form Kromac heals two damage for every Fury spent on healing. So he can cut himself to fill up on Fury and then heal back to full by spending half of the Fury he just generated. Of course, that leaves him in Beast Form with no spells and one animus to cast. Since the Pureblood's animus is, IMO, better, make sure the Pureblood outlives the Warpwolf by transferring damage the Pureblood receives to the Warpwolf.

One other way for him to get Fury when he needs it is his feat, but that only works against Hordes armies.

The Pureblood and Warpwolf tag team can handle all but the most durable targets (Devastator, Arcane Shielded Centurion, etc.). Try to use your speed, Howling Pit, and Spirit Hunter to avoid them, and Throw them away if they get too close. If they have Fortify or Inviolable Resolve, then you can't throw them.

Since your big guys can handle the other army's big guys, you need your infantry to handle their infantry. All three Tharn units are pretty good at this, but two synergize with Kromac much better due to Brutality: Ravagers and Wolf Riders. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.

The Wolf Riders are devastating with Brutality. Since they get to move after they kill something and don't follow unit coherency rules, they get to move, attack, move, attack, and so on until they either don't kill someone or run out of models to kill.

The Ravagers with Shaman can do the same thing, but for only one turn per game (Shaman mini-feat), and they are bound by normal unit coherency rules. They are also Fearless and slightly more durable than Wolf Riders with higher ARM, comparable DEF when in a forest, and the Shaman's ability to heal the unit.

Bloodtrackers are a good unit by themselves. Kromac offers them nothing, but they don't really need support.

The White Mane is good solo even without considering that he sometimes gives Ravagers a damage buff. He's another good target for Brutality.

Anyway, here's two lists I think would be pretty decent.

Kromac
Pureblood
Warpwolf
Wolf Riders (4)
Bloodtrackers (10)

495

Kromac
Pureblood
Warpwolf
Ravagers (4) and Shaman
Bloodtrackers (6)
White Mane

499

Wow guys.

Thanks for the feedback. You really helped me out alot. Like I said before, I just love wolves. I've been watching Hordes and Warmachine for a long time, just never had anyone to play-test it with me. I just recently relocated, and there are a few places that play both where I go.

The warbeast models are just amazing all around, and the Pureblood is beautiful enough to just collect.

Looking at the list and models, I will probably aim for the 2nd list. It has the right feel to it that I wanted and reading over Kromac some more, gives me an idea of how it would work together.

Thanks again.

Maybe I should just make it into a regular feature with pics of my painted minis.
