I wear corrective glasses all day everyday and I don't add safety glasses on top of them unless there is some serious fragmentation going on.

I would wear 'em more often if the corrective glasses were not present though.

I wear contacts most of the time but if not those, I'll be wearing my glasses.
I don't wear safety glasses since I haven't been in a situation where they're necessary.

For those that have gotten surgery, how did it work out? I've been thinking about it for a long time now.

Somewhere in south-central England.

I have glasses for close vision because at my age (46) everyone's eyes start to seize up even if they were perfect when younger. I can't remember the medical term for it -- it's not the same as myopia (shortsightedness.)

I first noticed the problem when trying to paint 6mm figures a couple of years ago. It was the first time for a few years I had taken up a paint brush, and my eyes had altered in the interim.

One way to help close vision is to have a bright light on the work. This lets your pupils close up more which gives you more depth of field -- in other words it helps with focussing.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

I'm very nearsighted, which is actually great when you're trying to paint little men. I just take off my glasses, and I can hold something 12" from my nose and focus fine.

Sad as it is, I've actually put off lasik because I still paint a lot, and I like being able to just take my glasses off and be all set.

I wear contacts. Of course, I can't exactly wear them while painting/modelling, but that's okay, since I'm nearsighted anyway. So I don't wear anything on my eyes when I paint/model.
