I can't stand painting on the sprues. Like most gamers i batch paint to speed up the painting process, and painting on the sprue just slows it down for me. The only thing I'd paint on a sprue is interior detail and tanck tracks etc. Bit's i cant get to become shadow. It's true that when handling models you can see patches (usually under and behind a gun) but I don't know any gamers who pay that much attention during a game. Models that are lickly to get a look at (characters) I spenmore time on anyway and occasionally will leave off a part or two to get at the akward bits, but generally I wouldn't go further than this. Possibly I would consider it for GD entries, but t the moment I haven't got time to make an entry anyways. I do have a friend who swares painting on the sprue is the only way he can get the best results (shaky hands) but the outcome is imho no better than his attempts at painting when built.
