The rule says you ask them to do it, when people ask you to do something, generally you have an option.

It is, but the way the rule is worded suggests that you only "ask" the opponent to reroll.

Also, the Blood Angel codex actually says you may "force" the opponent to reroll. I'm not sure about Dark Angels.

Actually, the Venerable Dreadnought rule is an exception to this.

Remember, the rules are permissive. The Ven Dread ability states that the owner may ask the opponent to re-roll the dice.

Nowhere does it say that the opponent is allowed to re-roll the dice.

Therefore, by the rules the opponent of the Ven Dread is forced to refuse to re-roll, as the rules do not allow him to!

I've been entertained lately by Eldar players who, when moving their wave serpents, use a rear vehicle to block the hatch of a front vehicle. Since emergency disembarkation has almost no down-side, this allows, when the front serpent is destroyed, the transported unit to disembark off the front of the serpent and closer to assault.

If an enemy squad is hiding behind, say a building, this means that I can place the template far above the squad, as long as I see the entire template, and don't exceed the 45 degree elevation angle on the cannon, and everyone under the template will be hit, taken into account the BS-roll of course. Even if I don't have LOS to any model in the enemy unit!

One Internets for you, sir, I've never noticed that one. Boomerang inferno cannon, go!

That seems very situational. An eldar skimmer moving is marginally difficult to destroy, whether it be a falcon or a wave serpent. Also, emergency disembarkation means the unit will be pinned, which would prevent them from being able to assault the next turn.

If you have an avatar nearby, or the squad is an aspect squad led by their phoenix lord, then this could be mitigated, but the avatar can't necessarily keep pace with transports going for a full court press type of assault. I'm just not seeing how this is a very "handy" abuse.

I don't believe emergency disembarkation leads to automatic pinning. The text of the rule says something to the effect that the unit may not do anything else for the rest of the turn. Since the default interpretation of "turn" is "player turn" (pg 9??) then a unit who performs an emergency disembarkation in the enemy's shooting phase, and who doesn't become pinned for another reason, won't be pinned at the start of the controlling player's turn. It's not that situational.

The ASK situation also applies to your army list. According to the Hdbk, your opponent is allowed to ask to see your list, but there is nothing putting you under an obligation to show it to him.

Emergency Disembarkation FTW. Wish I knew about it when I was playing in the Ard Boyz. I'd have been even more aggressive.

Necrons: We'll Be Back SNAFU...

A Necron Warrior would be denied a WBB roll versus a weapon with S8 ( unless of course an Orb is nearby ). However the Necron Warrior would be allowed a WBB roll versus a weapon with S9+ even without the aid of a Resurrection Orb...

The reason being - unlike the wording of ID which is strength at least twice the toughness - the WBB rule is a weapon that IS twice the model's toughness...

In other words by RAW S8 IS twice the toughness of the Necron Warrior ( T4 ), but S9 and higher IS not twice the toughness of the Necron Warrior...

Wrecking balls can be used in the opponent's assault phase, even through impassible terrain. Even if you can't see the enemy.

"I'm on the other side of this 1" thick rock formation that's 8" long and 6" high"

"Yeah, but I get to smack anything within 2" at the start of the assault phase."

"But it's my assault phase."

"THE assault phase, doesn't say which".

Boarding plank is the same way.

Ok, I have two Golden examples for Necrons a buddy of mine was playing.
1) "Since Heavy Destroyers are classified as Type: Destroyer like Destroyers, they can WBB and join Destroyers." I shook my head and said no.
2) Necrons can do the "We'll Be Back! Conga line". I mowed down some Necron Warriors that were 18" from me and after they got back up, formed this 12 inch conga line and all of a sudden was within Rapid Fire range. He stated that they get back up within 2 inches of eachother, thusly he placed each one down 2 inches in front of the next one. I countered saying they get back up simultaneously. He countered this with "How can I set them all up simultaneously?"
Again, I shook my head and said no.

Umm, they are saying this with abit of sarcasm, but to your defense it's difficult to tell sarcasm on the internet.
