i don't like slaanesh.

*GASP!* Hehe, just kidding

Thanks. I never liked the pink/black combo as it looked too plain and fruity. At least this at least looks a bit more dangerous whilst still being pleasing to the eye (ie, Slaaneshi!)

I've decided to paint my Noise Marines so I can get em done and out of the way. I made it so they all have top knots (easy to distinguish!), which are all blue (Regal Blue > Enchanted Blue > Ice Blue > Skull White > Asurman Blue Wash). Looking good so far, and Im hoping I can get these guys done a bit faster since they seem to be a bit easier to paint than the rest.

Actually all I have left to do on them is the eyes, silver and gold... so I'm almost done

The colour of the marines armour? I don't quite understand the question, hehe.

Mini update: I'm trying to get these stupid Noise Marines done as fast as possible... aiming for Tuesday/Wednesday completion. I'm just finishing up the weapons on all 8, then I've just the trim on the bodies to paint silver as well as the shoulder pads (which doesnt take too long at all). Oh and the eyes... but I enjoy painting eyes for some reason. I'll update with some pics when theyre done.

As mentioned I used an airbrush to do it, and I'm still getting the hang of it (I had JUST bought one and learned to use it really quickly before doing these models). It takes a lot of control an you really need to focus on the paint flow/pressure so you don't get a spurt of paint, ruining the model (or close to it). The quick version of what I did was prime the model black, then did the first layer in Liche Purple, leaving about 25% of the black, and then once that was done on all of the models, I went back and did it in Warlock Purple (covering up about half of the Liche Purple beneath it). After that it was just a matter of painstakingly covering up any areas that weren't supposed to be covered with black, giving it a nice clean look. This is probably the longest process thus far, but I just zone out and paint it and it goes fast (sadly, so does the time). Painting the silver afterwards is pretty quick and looks fantastic.

That's how I did the armour.

Well I did it... I finished painting my Noise Marines last night. This is a huge accomplishment for me and I'm very happy with it.

So this month I set out to paint the following:

10x Chaos Marines (1x Champion, 4x Heavy Bolters)
10x Chaos Raptors (1x Champion, 2x Special Weapons (interchangeable)
8x Noise Marines (1x Champion, 1x Blastmaster, 6x Sonic Blasters)

I have completed it all! I'm just waiting for the glue for the grass to dry, then I'll take some pictures.

Next up for my 1k points, isn't a whole lot of models... but it depends what I'll be using for my list. Here is the 1k points list.

Sorcerer 100
Mark of Slaanesh 5
Lash of Submission 20
Wings 20
Melta Bombs 5
150

6 Chosen 108
3 Meltaguns 30
Rhino 35
Extra Armour 15
188

6 Raptors 120
2 Meltaguns 20
140

6 Noise Marines 120
Sonic Blasters 25
Blastmaster 40
185

6 Noise Marines 120
Sonic Blasters 25
Blastmaster 40
185

6 Havocs 90
4 Heavy Bolters 60
150

OR

Chaos Vindicator 125
Daemonic Possession 20
Twin linked Bolter 5
150

OR

Chaos Defiler 150

OR

2 Obiterators 150

998

NOTE: I'm able to switch between Flamers and Meltaguns for the Raptors... and the reason I gave the Vindicator the bolter is just to bump it up to 150 points (and in case it gets a weapon destroyed, I'll still have the bolter left to do SOMETHING ).

As you can see, I have a bit of options for what I want my Heavy Support to be. Against my friends Tau I'll be taking the Havocs (as he is a little Railgun crazy), but I'm thinking against the Orks I'll use the Defiler, and against the Scouts I'll use the Vindicator. Not sure what I'd use the Obliterators for, but they are there anyways. Perhaps against the Salamanders. Comments on the list would be appreciated.

So to complete that list, I need to paint the following:

3 CSM w/ Meltaguns
Rhino
4 Noise Marines w/ Sonic Blasters
1 Noise Marine w/ Blastmaster
Defiler/Vindicator/2 Obliterators

I could easily do that all next week, as I think I've gotten the hang of painting these guys pretty quickly.

So just help me decide what my HS choice should be and then I'll get to it!

Also, as I mentioned... I'll be taking some pictures of the completed Combat Patrol later today once the glue has dried.

Your painting looks great! I am jealous, as painting is my greatest weakness. I'd love to see how your raptors look with those wings. I am doing the same thing, as you know.

EDIT: Also, my personal HS preference is the Vindicator. It can do some pretty nasty damage to both vehices and infantry, and it doesn't cost a terrible lot of points. However, you don't have many vehicles in your list so it will be a big target and probably die fast. With what you have there, I would recommend the Obliterators, who are mobile, versatile, and can deep strike. Watch out for high str weapons, though. They are pretty vulnerable to instant death.

Very very nice army. I am slowly putting together a noise marine army also and I applaud you for not making a cheesed out list. ie. 2 DP with lash, maxed out units of blaster marines.

I am most interested in you "Snake defiler" because I had that very same idea for my army. My marines have a "Death Metal" theme based on various songs, and the song Metal Snake keeps coming to mind when I think Defiler. All the legs put end to end can make a decent body (2 kits are even better). But I am stuck on a suitable head. I wanted to do something recognisable like a cobra collar but the defiler kit has a very boxy/clunky head box. I would like to see what you had in mind.

ps. Defiler claws will make excellent giant metal fangs.

Thanks. I don't like playing with cookie cutter/cheese/un-fun lists. Most of my opponents are my good friends so it only makes sense not to play a WAAC list.

Sadly I scrapped the Snake Defiler... it didn't turn out how I wanted it to and in the end just caused more trouble than it was worth. For the head, though, I made it out of plasticard. I think there's a picture of the Defiler (without his little frill thingie, which makes it look a lot better for what it is) somewhere on my gallery.

My new 'love' is my Sonic Dreadnought. I really need to take some pictures of it. I have 1 more bit of GS to add to its claw and then I can assemble it.

Also I decided to cease the Emperors Children army for a bit and move onto something a bit more Khorney (hah!) for some variety in painting. I managed to make a list of what I have painted (save the Sorcerer and Dread) so that will tide me over for the time being. It's not really that good of a list, but it's what I've got painted and ready to play with so at least its something. Here it is:

Chaos Sorcerer 100
Lash of Submission 20
Mark of Slaanesh 5
125

Chaos Dreadnought 90
Twin Autocannon 20
Heavy Flamer 5
115

5 Chaos Space Marines 75
Flamer 5
Champion 15
Power Weapon 15
110

8 Noise Marines 160
Champion 15
Power Weapon 15
Sonic Blasters 35
Blastmaster 40
265

5 Raptors 100
2 Meltaguns 20
120

5 Raptors 100
Champion 15
Power Weapon 15
130

5 Havocs 75
4 Heavy Bolters 60
135

Alright so here's a little going away present... I finished the sculpting and assembly on the Sonic Dreadnought so here it is!

So yeah I'm going to California (well.. the desert part of it anyways) help out our brothers in arms to the south. Should be a fun but challenging exercise. I leave tomorrow and will be back in 2 weeks and will definitely be painting this Dreadnought up when I get back! Thanks to everyone that's kept an eye out on this blog, I appreciate the support

Back from the desert! Was certainly a good time (except for the sandstorm which caused a tent to fly around and almost destroy me).

I think I'll start painting that Dread tomorrow! Keep posted for some glory shots (hah!)

Nice dread so far, can't wait to see it painted. Your purple looks very organic, but not in the sickly way like nurgle, more vibrant and aggressive.

I really just want to finish this 1k points so I can move onto something else. I'm sick of painting purple

Anyways, all I have left is this Dreadnought and a Sorcerer and I'm done this army and can paint my Khorne army.

Here's the WIP picture of the Dread. I don't know what colour to paint the claw, so any thoughts on that would be helpful. Also my motivation for painting this thing is surprisingly low. :(

Bone works well with the purple you get nice contrast to the mini and it doesn't clash with metals which you are probably going to be painting on the dread.

Hmmm a bone or bright green-ish colour could work. All the lens/gems are going to be green (reference the eye lenses on the Chaos Marines), so perhaps a more organic version of that may do the trick.

I'll paint as much of the metals as I can tomorrow and perhaps that will fill in a bit more of the details in order to plan this claw fiasco out correctly
