2. My Death Guard rely on the notion that people will always target Assault squads, no matter how fast they're going. So, I run Havocs behind them (Usually with heavy flamers), and once the Raptors are down for the count (it takes a while, if it happens at all, due to T5 and FNP), I mop up everything with Heavy Weapons. Plague marines make good units for sitting atop objectives when I have to. It never results in total domination, but it's just as satisfying as if it did.
And then I manage to squeeze an Exorcist into a 500 point game, and my Witch Hunters absolutely destroy. I usually run two units of SoBs w/ two Meltaguns each, a Bare-bones Exorcist, and an Inquisitor Lord with Scourging, three Acolytes w/ close combat weapons and bolt pistols, and a close combat weapon himself. There's not much Strategy here, except for to try and stay out of CC for as long as possible so the Exorcist can work it's magic. The Inquisitor also kills in a 500 point game, as for all intents and purposes, he has 6 wounds and D6 S5 AP5 shooting attacks.
3. The Death Guard tend to have a problem with highly mechanized armies, as Grenade Launchers just don't cut it against tanks. They still do decently here, but not nearly as well as if the army they face is troop-centric. The SOB have yet to lose a game, but they tend to have a problem with horde CC armies (Actually Tyranids are a bigger problem than Orks, because of leaping).
Death Guard does not field Grenade Launchers. No chaos units use grenade launchers.
Havocs cannot have heavy flamers. Raptors cannot get Feel No Pain.
Are you using a previous edition rulebook or just using the rules wrong?

My most dreaded opponent is one who refuses to fight me and will go out of his way not to fight me.
But his army probably sucks anyway...

2 armies
1) Tyranids- stealer shock
2) Dakka fexes and Flyrant charge the middle, while stealers outflank
3) I have never beaten landraider spam, my fexes can't catch them and my HT doesn't live long enough to take out more than one maybe. Shooty orks also give me a headache, their fodder is better than my fodder.
1) Orks - shooty. SAG, shoota boyz, lootas
2) Hold objectives and defend with volume of shots
3) Chaos lash is problematic for me, a whole squad of boyz on an objective can get forced into HtH and wiped out. Eldar volume of shots and mobility puts the hurt on as well.

Since my Return to 40k after 3 years hiatus I have played all of 3 games.
1. Mech CSM (Undivided) - 6 Squads of Marines, 4 with Melta/Flamer in Rhinos, 2 Las/Plas Firebases. Tank Hunting Raptors and Bikes, 8 Khorne Terminators, 20 Lesser Daemons, 2 Dreads, a Dakka Pred and a partridge in a pear tree (Fires 6 auto-cast Bolt of Change per shooting phase, theirs and mine)
2. Lord either flys/walks or takes Terminator armor and Deepstrikes, hiding in its squad of choice. 4 Rhinos push up towards objectives, Las/Plas takes any objectives in/near my own spawn backed by dakka pred. Raptors and bikes go tank hunting with massed Melta fire, all the while my troops and units try to be ready for when my Reserves come into play usually swaying the battle were ever they show up.
3. First game I played fireing line eldar, and got rocked - in my defense it had been awhile and my flying lords were on their own.
Second game against Orks - I took the morale victory out of his full force all he had left were 4-5 grots and handlers, 2 stormboys with zag, and his warboss with 2 nobz all had a wound on em. While I still had a Sorcerer Lord and a full marine squad with a working rhino moving around. Lost because of capture points. Third game was against Salamanders a 1k point game were I went against a Land Raider not sure of its class name but packed acouple Heavy Flamers and Melta Guns, again lost because of objectives while he had less then 6 marines and a chappy still alive. My daemons went against his chappy for about 3-4 turns on their own making saves like no other but neither side ever died.

Orks with Gazkull. No matter how wonderful you play, there's no way to stop a second turn charge from a large portion of his army without simply running away at full speed, in which case you aren't exactly killing many orks, and if you're not killing orks, they'll just table you a turn later than they expect.
Orks without Gazkull are actually decent fun to play against.
