I went to the Ard' Boyz semi's @ the Hobbit Hobby. The store itself had a small gaming area, but they rent out the animal shelter room next door I think when they have big tournies. They did for Ard Boyz at least. That is the only NC shop I have gone to, but Above Board Games and Borderlands in Greenville are close to the SC/NC border and they both have a pretty active community.

If you ever get down around Columbia, SC check out Heroes and Dragons. We have like 14 or so very active players with tournaments for WHFB/40k like 3 times a month.
