Your list of groups missed the Iron Fist League (VA/DC/MD), who just happened to have the largest representatioin of all the groups at Baltimore last year.

Easy to forget about us. We are primarily a local group. But over the years we've had our share of players placing/winning categories at the GTs, Adepticon, etc. We're just a quiet group except for a few loudmouths like me........

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

When you first posted I was going to tell you what I did when I lived in Jax, but you changed it to NC and I can't help you with that.

As far as tournement support/prizes, most will not tell you what they are ahead of time. My guess that the reason is that they do not know how many people are going to show up, and what the budget for prizes is.

For the longest time the most expensive tournament was the GW GTs, and all they gave you was a small trophy. Adepticon tells you what they are giving out for the Gladiator, but just about every other event, you pay your money and take your chances.

To be fair, I believe pretty much all of the entry fees associated with Adepticon are consumed by the venue: renting large hall space and all those tables isn't especially cheap. Prize support is courtesy of great sponsors, pulled in by great coordinators.

That's generally the distinction, Dash. The larger tournaments have a much larger "entry fee" because they have to rent the space. Your local gaming store already has the space, and is counting on goodwill/day-of-tournament sales to justify hosting the event.

(Like right now how 40K Wrecking Crew pretty much has bragging rights, due to having members winning the AdeptiCon Invitational, GTs Vegas, Chicago, and Baltimore, and I think also picking up the Necro).

Of course, when a requirement of membership is being successful at tournies, statistically, you should win more tournies. It's like pointing out how many quarterbacks in the hall of fame won championships.
