Assault Termies with Dual Lightning claws, in a Land Raider, and a Terminator armored Chaplain, classic but a goodie!

The pen is mightier then the sword, but you must keep a sword handy for when the pen runs out of ink.

How about this as the end all solution. Get a chapter master and a terminator chaplain. Magnetize the terminators by hollowing out the body. Place magnets in arms and voilĂ ! Instant customizability.

doing the maths, enemy weapon skill wont make a difference because it will effect them both equally.
Also assuming charge, almost always the case cos who is gonna charge a terminator squad.

Higher than T6 TH obviously wins, also likely to be power weapon territory where the 3+ invun is likely to help.

against T5 (berserkers)

LC terminator causes 1.11 wounds per terminator
TH terminator causes 1.25 wounds per terminator

against an T4 (MEQs)

LC terminator causes 1.5 wounds
TH terminator causes 1.25 wounds

against T3 (eldar and the like)

LC terminator causes 2 wounds
TH terminator causes 1.25 wounds

against low toughness LC edges out quite well.

I'm thinking TH every time because tbh when is Int 4 gonna strike anything but last... not exactly high anyway
anything that will be hitting you at int 3 probably shouldnt be in combat against terminators.

Also, the TH special rule will come in handy occasionally and the storm shield makes them
twice as survivable against power weapon attacks and ap2 shooting. Plus the high strength lets them hit
carnifexs and the like (5 will kill any fex in 1 round of combat).

I say leave your lightning claws behind, they hardly ever better, make them vunerable to shooting and low toughness
baddies can be dealt with in shooting or assault them with a tactical squad/anything else.

Thinking about it, relic blade honor guard squad would be far better than a LC terminator - str 6 for 10 more points
and all you lose is a crappy inv save and you gain many more (cheaper) transport options.

sorry the rabble at the end, i just joined this forum to divulge this knowledge so i thought i'd make it worth it

I tested out TH termies in a LR and loved their "hulk smash" ability. My cunning adversary was able to out maneuver them once the LR was stunned/immobilized.

I thought the high points of the LR+termies detrimented my 1750 pt army over all. Their only real success was killing 200 pts worth of vindicators before they were out of position to do too much else.

If I had a larger gaming group i would consider a more well rounded CC termi arrangment

I have a love /hate relationship with anything green.

I use Thunder Hammers exclusively because Grey Knight Terminators don't get the option of Lightning Claws.

Because a Grey Knight Terminator with Lightning Claws would look AMAZING.

yes the comp. and perhaps best builds are going with 3 LC and 2 TH with a chaplain having a 3+ inv you can put those nast powerfist/wpn attacks on the shields and rely on your 2+ the chaplain gives you re-rolls, stuuf then in a crusader and you get 1 more TH. Just about the best build running for termies. The PF/PS bolter combo has never been good and now termies are worth taking. I know I can go through 5 termes with PF/PS with 30 boys, it takes about 60 and 2-3 turns to go through LC/TH termies and I usually only have 10-15 boys left after the fight. Their staying power is alot better than it used to be.

"For the emperor!" "E' aint listenin!" *squish* (my fav blood and thunder quote)

BUT NOBS are NO GOOD at CC "ork town grot"
-perhaps the single dumbest comment I have ever heard-

Boss Zagstruck and Her-ORKick intervention, anything you can do we can do better

Personal thunderhammers are best for vulcan lists but otherwise i prefer lightning claws on the whole especially for templars.

Even in a Salamander setup I still keep a couple of claws in the squad to thin out a squad before the hammers hit.
