The 2nd Ed Wargear book lists the Rapier as a mobile anti-tank weapon with a four-barrelled laser designed to focus with precision accuracy at a single point. It didn't fire four shots like the Eldar Scatterlaser, but all four barrels concentrated fire and fired simultaneously.

72" maximum range, with +1 to hit targets within 18"

Strength 9 with the equivalent of AP1 (that's -6 Armour Penetration). Most heavy weapons caused multiple wounds to the target, in this case 2d10 - enough to kill anything on the field except on a bad roll. Against vehicles, it had d6+2d10+9 (average roll of 22) which could penetrate even a Landraider, IIRC. Even though it was on a motorized track, it was still move-or-fire which 5th edition calls Heavy.

George Spiggott's rules reflect this information pretty effectively and I'd declare them very appropriate for the OP's idea.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

Instead of something new and obtuse (which would, of course result in a deluge of questions in the You Make Da' Call thread), why not just make it "Twin Linked"?

Just because anyone agrees with anyone, doesn't mean they are correct. Beware the thin line between what is "Correct" and what is "Popular."

Good point... Everything else is twin linked nowadays. That'd solve a lot of problems, wouldn't it? It'd sure make the entire think a lot easier I think.

5-6 Hits the gun.
(*Taken from page 119, Imperial armour vol 5 under Earthshaker Cannon)

Had alot of fun making it and using it, the gun performs its job well.

Despite it's name, that's a decent rules set to me. Basically you're using it as Artillery, as described in the rulebook (can't quote the page off my head for ya).

Yes it performs as a static anti-tank artillery piece, much like the WWII anti-tank guns. I like to use it as a companion to the Lascannon, but with longer range.

These seem like decent, workable rules set. I really like the fact it's only heavy 1. For something that powerful it'll make it a lot more exciting knowing you only have a 50/50 chance of hitting. Well done, well done.
