I'd love to see the line in the stimulus about frisbee golf course in Austin. Yea. Since it's not there.

People love to trash the stimulus for things that aren't in it. Attacking things on the individual mayor's wish lists (in which they listed projects that could break ground immediately, aka "shovel-ready" projects) is not the same as attacking the stimulus itself.

And of course outside of that we know that Frisbee golf courses don't employ anyone. All run by robots, built by robots.

Next someone will be complaining about Volcano monitoring.

Yeah, Roosevelt was mistaken in the 30s in trying to balance the budget while still injecting large amounts of government spending into the economy. You can only do that with very high tax rates, which end doing more harm than good. It was only when the war started and government was allowed to go into debt that the recovery really began.

Of course I've already suggested this as a remedy:

Yeah, this is Republican talking point I'm seeing more and more lately. War gets you out of depression, because government employs lots of soldiers and spends piles of money on trucks and bullets. All of which is a direct stimulus into the economy.

Which is perfectly sensible, but then you have to ask yourself why the same wouldn't work, if it were government spending directed at something other than war, perhaps on large scale infrastructure projects and new technologies. It seems to be the consensus that that would never work because its what the Democrats are trying to do.

To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Agriculture represents around 2% of employment in the US. It's important, but it isn't important like high tech manufacturing or banking is important... though perhaps I shouldn't have mentioned banking.

Then of course there is the whole needing to eat part of life so even inside the US we depend on agriculture. I hear people outside the US also need to eat as well, but I think it is propaganda or something.

I've seen people from the US, compared to you lot I wouldn't even call what we do eating. You guys are serious about your food.

Actually it falls under the blank check purview. Chicago wouldn't even print its list of wannabees

As for the golf course-no run by no one, built by hard working illegal immigrants from down south.

Wow, you're being way too serious Sebster. As we noted Belgium has no gold, but lots of excellent chocolate and beer. Brazil has a completely different kind of natural resource.

Sigh, Frazz I was just about to commend you for attempting to present facts and not just spouting "It's change you can belive in" then you go and toss in "Illegal immigrands from the south." It's not their fault it's the people who hire them. If the knowing hiring of Illegals got the same time as say, geting caught with half a joint, and not some super low fine, then maybe We'd see a drop in it.

And whilst you're pointing and shouting at the boogeyman in the corner, you're missing the burglar coming in through the window.

Well, Duh! Because they had a giant Mining ship. If you had a giant mining ship you would drill holes in everything too, before you'd destory it with a black hole

1. Did I say it was their fault?
2. Did I say anything dispersionary to illegal immigrants?
3. Do I think anyone who makes their way across the border through harsh conditions that could potentially kill you just to send money to their family is awesome?
4. Do I think if we could just keep them and get rid of an equal number of home grown ne'erdowells the US would be unstoppable?

In the immortal words of the bad guy in Bruce Leroy: "sucker pleazzze."

Actually... going into something I deal with on a daily (nightly if you want to get down to it) basis, the Illegals are not coming over her as much as they used to and in quite a few instances are trying to go back home. Why you ask? The economy. The economy is affecting them as well to the point where even they cant find jobs.

Heres an other nice little story for you. The courthouse I work in had to have its initial construction halted for a few weeks because of illegals. Someone in INS got a wild hair and decided to o a round up. Said round up decimated the construction crew on the fortress of conservitive values because there were so many illegals building it.

I play...

Of course I'm being serious. I'm arguing politics on the internet. Serious business.
