They're still cheaper than a full unit of the FW bikers!

Nice paint job, but not worth $1800. Whoever bought that...why?

That sounds like an overreaction and a half. I don't even understand either, how is some idiot blowing $1.8k on plastic models making the situation any worse? Isn't that exactly what we want, seeing as how that guy will most likely pump that money he got for the models back into the economy by either buying more models or doing something more sensible?

Thise of you who (like me) are amazed at those prices are the wrong kind of bidders for this auction.

Amazingly enough, there ARE people out there who pay these amounts... regularly...

One of my buddies wins almost every auction he bids on. He uses e-snipe and... Well, the amounts he puts in as his max amount are insane. Few people have ever outbid him.

Why? Because he can easily afford it.
If he saw & wanted either of those auctions, he would have, likely, won them.

There are those out there who gladly put out that kind of money for models they want... Whether they're V. Lamb models or just some guy whose Ork Biker Nobs are only above average.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. The motto is "spend spend spend", money saved is money that isn't being pumped back into the ailing economy.

ok $165 a peice....

whats one of the modles worth ?

how many hours to paint one of them ?

I bet when you do the math its not like this guy made a fortune, in fact i bet even at that price he could not afford to paint mini's for a living

its sounds like a lot, but I dont think it is

Oh and why did i not do the math, cause i dont know the value of the mini's, the paints brush's ( i know good equipment aint cheap) and how man hours those things took to paint. if somone wants to give me the figures I will do the math

I am out of touch with it, last time I played we had squats, trikes, ratlings and robots....

Yeah, someone here is _painfully_ ignorant that one of the ways you help hasten the end of an economic downturn is by spending money...

And in regards to the op, I'm pretty sure everyone knows those nobz aren't made out of gold, because IIRC, at current value, $1,800 would be 2 ounces, and I'm sure those weigh a lot more than that.

Well... try to look at it this way... Warhammer is both a hobby and a game.

Some people only play, and can care less about finding the hobby part *fun. But that doesnt mean they dont like having nicely painted models.

To many, time = money. For the hours they can TRY to paint ( and seriousely, what normal players can paint better than V.Lamb for example ) .

So its actually cheaper yes CHEAPER for them to spend $2k on stuff .

Just a thought.

I have seen a lot of things on Ebay going for a lot more than what they are worth lately. A nice trend if you are selling stuff, but not so much for the buyers.

What!?! I don't have to paint my miniatures anymore? Or assemble them? and only for 1,800 dollars! Wow! what a steal!!!!

Painting and modeling are the best parts of the hobby IMHO, well, besides gaming with buddies of course.

Well hey! everyone have their priorities and preferences.

Or else painting services wouldnt exist at all.

Expensive ebay auction for painted are very similar imo.

Both are scams.
Look at the bid history of both auctions. Only bidders are E***i, Z***i, E***n, 9***8, etc. Then look at the bid histories of these bidders. The only transactions they have are with with seller1, seller2, seller3, etc.
My guess is the bidders and the sellers are the same person/company. Not sure why they'd do this, unless they think someone will jump into the bidding caught up in the manufactured flurry, or perhaps they link to the sale when trying to persuade people to pay obscene amounts for commission works. Either way, no money is being transferred, and Ebay certainly isn't getting its cut.

Luna, I specifically mean the Nob Bikers. Painting services are fine. but $1,800 for those bikers is rubbish.

I don't know how much painting services are though. I could only guess.

Really? hmm seems legit to me ( past winners with high prices too ) , the winning bidder have bought different painted armies from around the world.

Sometimes... but that takes longer. Many times, it's "See it. Want it," as opposed to "Want it. Look for it."

That's also why I qualified it with, "If he saw & wanted." It can be a really nice looking unit but, if it's armed wrong... forget it. If it's armed right... cha ching. : )

Do you ever use ebay?
Those names look like that to hide the identities of the buyers. It's been that way for a LONG time.
Look at ANY completed Feebay auction and check out the name of the winning buyer.

Nah. It's a privacy thing.

People used to take advantage of people like my buddy... They'd go in, see who was bidding, and bid the bejeesus out of an auction because they knew the guy was going to have a high proxy bid.

It's one of the reasons my buddy turned to e-snipe. The main one, in fact.

I'd have to say... That's a lot of teef'. A stupid amount of teef'. And the paintjob is simple, while clean, it's not at all that good. That's a simple dunkin' job if you ask me... I'm thinking that the winning bidder will be disappointed by this "pro" painter...

Just my 2 cents.
