The house was really pressing hard for no outside food for some reason, couldn't tell if it was contractual, a boose issue, or motivated by some other thing.
Most venues have this policy. My experience has been that it's a matter of how hard the venue wants to enforce the policy. It's a matter of liability with regard to the hotel ... especially with regard to the booze.
Considering all the positives of this venue .. it's going to be one we will have to live with...

I have to say it was the most fun I have every had at a tournament, I have been to GW GTs many times in numerous venues and none of them came close to being as enjoyable as my day at the 40k Championships.
I was at table 3 for my final game so I was in the running all day and never once had a game that was not just plain fun, including my final opponent. We ended with a technical draw for the primary objective ( one objective each ) but he got another 25 points for secondary and tertiary objectives to only 10 for me, giving him a much better showing.
I really like how the systems worked, the players were pleasant the venue was insanley cool from a locations standpoint ( snow in april kinda sucked but thats not thier fault)
Even though I cant aford gladiator, there is so much more to do there for the whole weekend that even if you have a thing against having superheavies in a competitive tournament, there is no reason for hate against the event itself.
I will be giving it raving reviews on my post adepticon report on TWiW this week. It is the example I hope everyone follows in the wake of the GW pullout.

Are you going to discuss Adepticon with Stelek the next time he's on your roundtable? Would be interesting.

Im thinking about it, I would really like to have Yak and Stelek on the same show but I dont know if that would be just too much bad blood. I like Andrew, and he insists that there is nothing personal here so its not up to me to put words in his mough, but I dont know if such a debate would be fun and productive for everyone involved and TWiW is above all a fun and positive show.
It may be a moot point for the foreseable future anyway as Roundtables have been problematic in general. between getting ready for Adepticon, and increased work load at th office. Its been hard enough just to keep up with the weekly show. Going forward my I might be able to get things back on track, but I also have 9 Valkyries/Vendettas to paint and assemble for the Big Waagh!
Thanks for the suggestion though, it would be interesting to be sure.

Oh, more news from Adepticon:
Hank rocks. He runs an awesome event. Go Hank. Also the other volunteers and nice peeps, like Kari (sp?) who did theme judging for us Friday night when she couldn’t find a regular judge.
Also, Augustus is a funny dude in person, and does great and quick figure repairs. I think he did four for me on Friday. Though he did give me a little sass about not pinning the wing on my daemon prince (which did hold together just fine for the rest of the weekend and the flight home). Augustus also paints some very nice White Scars, although I understand that shortly after meeting the Cold Steel Mercs they found themselves residents in a House of Pain, eating a Cake of Misery.
In other news, the Wrecking Crew contains some very funny and fun guys, who can be a joy to drink and game with, even when they bring a broken-ass army like dual nob bikers. Thanks for the beer, guys. I hope you enjoyed the ones I left in the room after I had to go to bed.

For the person who said their finial game was on Table 3 and therefore in the running automatically.. Table number this year was not assigned based on the "low numbers" meaning you were ranking higher in the overall if you were on a low numbered table. So you may have been in the running, and on table 3.. but the 2 did not go together this year.
The table assignments were random this year. If you noticed, The Gladiator Main table (game 4) was in the 20 or 30's for the finial game, the TT Main Table between Dakka 1 and Reoccuring Nightmare was also in a similar (maybe 40's) range randomly. Forgive my not remembering the exact table numbers, as the finial games came around for individual events I was watching several contender games.
For the food and drink issue, Hank explained this during the Awards on Sat night saying that it was a liability issue for the Hotel concerning booze. All of us staff members kept all our stuff bought at the stores near by out of the main hall and only brought in stuff we got from the hotel and its attached Harry Carrey's restruant. The rest stayed in our rooms. Compared to the price of food at last years venue, this year was a great and awesome improvement to price. I really giove it to the Westin Hotel for having such great costs.
The worst part of that GW slide show was that I was stuck hitting the button to go to the next slide while the IG Codex was 4 feet from me being read by other staff. At least at the end I got myself about 5 Minutes with it
Anyway it would have been nice to meet any one of you while there. I was the Staff/Rules Judge walking around in the NYPD stocking cap all 3 days.

Don't let him get to you Warmaster. There was a time when I must have pinned every single Swooping Hawk set of wings of Augustus' at one time or another, but usually during the the game. I basically shamed him into pinning. There's nothing so bad as an ex-nonpinner.

Don't forget tired! Oh, how tired I was.
Since I work at nights, I normally go to sleep at around 7am and sleep until around 3pm and get up for work. All of a sudden I flew to Chicago and started trying to go sleep around 2-3am (12-1am my time) and get up around 6-7am (4-6am my time). So basically I was trying to go to wake up around the time I normally go to sleep and then game for 12+ hours. . .
And then when I got back home I had to try to switch back. Man, that first day back at work on Monday was a killer.
Anyway, I'll get some photos and a report up when I get through the backlog of work stuff I have to get through having taken last Thursday and Friday off to go to Adepticon.
Anyone who took any photos of Adepticon, PLEASE UPLOAD THEM TO THE GALLERY AND TAG THEM: 'ADEPTICON 2009'.
