Okay, running them minimal is fine, but remember one thing:
Always, always, always give any Eldar vehicle spirit stones. Being stunned makes transports pretty worthless, and any other skimmer a lot less likely to survive. Even Warwalkers should have them. If you can't shoot with shaken vehicles, you can always hide, go flat out to deliver cargo, ram, etc- but only if you have stones. Stunned, you just sit there to get shot. 10 points each and worth every point and then some.
But yeah, you can skip fields etc. on Prisms if you have other tanks to split enemy antitank fire. If they're your ONLY vehicles, though, you might want to consider holos. YMMV. But TAKE SPIRIT STONES, for godssake.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Yar QFT.
Wait...
If you link fire prism A (with a hull shuriken cannon) to fire prism B you can fire Fire Prism A's shuriken cannon at a seperate target to that being targetted by fire prism B? That makes the cannon (and three prisms) much more viable.

For a Fire Prism, which is a fire support tank, I would skip the Spirit Stones (I would not on a falcon, which needs mobility).
But Holo-fields are a MUST if you want four prism to stay alive.

Congratulations, your dismissive and conclusory commentary has provided nothing to this discussion or the wider community on whose behalf you arrogantly presume to speak nor does it engage in any meaningful way the remark it lamely targets. But you did manage to gain experience points toward your next level of internet tough guy. |

Exarch_Nektel, I strongly disagree. If you're not shooting you'd better be booking it for a save or to contest, etc. The stones make that possible for 10 points, a very good deal. And holos without stones is a TERRIBLE idea. Downgrading 75% of hits to Shaken is great not just because they're still in the game, but also because it discourages one's opponents.
As for holos- I find outranging the enemy even more effective than holos, if you can pull it off. And holos while helpful are very expensive when you're trying to squeeze at least 7 tanks (the magic number for splitting fire and redundancy) into an 1850 list.
In Mechdar, Prisms are useful as fire magnets to keep your scoring units (troops in transports and jetbikes) alive and effective. Having the prisms look relatively killable makes them more tempting targets. Since your first turn is often at good range you're safe then, and the last few turns many things are in CC. Play keep-away on turn 2 and then be prepared to lose them in 3-4 if needed. I find the sacrifice is usually worth it. If the Prisms kill, say, 2 Marine tac squads between them before being shot down, you've got a good return on your investment (including the protection for your scoring units).
