I'll magnetize a load of coffee straws to the tip of a Demolisher, just to test it out and see how I like it. My friend says it's a waste of time, but seeing as coffee straws are virtually free, I told him to stfu lol (besides, the original barrel isn't long enough ) but anyway, ya, I know the Punisher doesn't come close to take-on-all-comers tank, but it has a place in the army. as long as it lives long enough to deal some pain, I'm fine.

and of course there will be Exterminators and Psykers! I already have a squad of 5 on order, along with C&K

Kungfuhustler wrote:Good write up on the Punisher! I have tested one out in several games, all with pask, and it seems to be about as good as stormtroopers... Not good at all. It has had a couple moments in the sun, don't get me wrong. It does make a good clean-up gun and EXCELS at dealing with line infantry with 4+ or worse... those buggers like to space out and stand in lines to avoid template death. Really that is what this tank is good at IMO. Killing squads that are spaced out to avoid the brunt of my template love.
Really though, for the cost, this tank is not the ticket at all.
The executioner(s) that I run make my opponents howl in frustration and are actually less expensive than a punisher with pask.
Soon I will run a list with 3 executioners and punishers each with minimum troops and see what happens. It should be fun.

Thank you, your opinion is pretty much my opinion, although I haven't backed it up with gameplay. I feel pretty sure that it's not completely useless, it's just too many points. Maybe with a 36" main gun...

From the looks of it, this tank could make for a solid cleanup hitter in an anti-hoard role... Yes, it's a fire magnet, but squadron up a pair of these with a solid template throwing base (I'm thinking mortars or some other barrage weapon), and you've effectively given yourself a way to polish off those squads that invariably get close enough to assault, even after soaking up obscene volumes of fire.

It seems to me that this isn't meant to be one of the first weapons to go for in your shooting phase, based on it's role, honestly, it should be one of the last, keeping all the nasty gribblies off of your infantry lines. Like every other Gatling weapon on the planet, it's a support weapon, a means of suppressing your enemy and hopefully bringing them to hesitate.

Has anyone thought to equip this thing with something a little hotter than heavy bolters? I realize that the tank itself is pricey, but if you put a solid array of weaponry on it, you'll be leaving your opponent with a difficult selection when you get that "weapon destroyed" result, not to mention that it becomes a lot more useful than just a trio of heavy bolters if the main gun goes down.

Things I've gotten other players to admit...

I think it would be the best tank to stick the tank commander Pask . Anything AV12 or lower aint gonna survive a round of shooting & if you combine it with either 3 h.bolters or perhaps a h.flamer for close-in work it will be very good at killing troops.

Yes its AP- but its fairly easy to assume cover saves are still king (Personally im gonna field 1x Execu, 2x Erads, 1x Medusa) so the sheer hail of fire would trump.

More fun than effective but still a threat.

Seems like a nice tank to park next to a DH inquisitor with mystics to scare off deep strikers... of course, so is the demolisher and a bunch of other units. Maybe add a couple a DH lord and a regular DH inq to an IG army and create big no go zones for deep strikers.
