on the highlights should i keep doing it like on the limited ed mini or should i do more? and any tips on doing the highlights?

For the armour, keep doing the drybrush coats over the darker basecolor so that the armour plates stick out, but don't let the black areas get -too- big. You want nice, small, clean lines to bring out the armour plates. You don't want people to think the armour has a black and grey camo pattern, so keep the black areas around the plating recesses small and sharp. Then for your cloth highlights, just use less paint and don't press hard. You're just wanting to dust the surfaces of all the raised parts with a lighter shade, so the brush should just barely be sweeping across the raised areas, and you should have just a little bit of paint coming off your brush if you wipe it on a paper/box/pallette. Highlights and details are all about using as little paint as possible to get the best results possible. The more paint you use in your details and trim/highlighting, the less impressive it'll look in the end. Just bear that in mind if you decide to try highlighting your whole force.

also remember on deep set combat eyes you dont have to paint the white in and everything, you could just leave them dark as to show the shadow cast by the helment.

31rls31 beat me to it. For the rank and file you dont need to paint the eyes, just shadow the area with some gryphone sepia or similar ink.

I guess it all depends on preferance. If you want to do eyes, do em. If you want to shadow, shadow. Personally I go for doing the eyes on all my guard minis. Just adds a nice final touch. If you're looking to get Apoc geared quickly though, go for shadows. Otherwise if you're not in any rush, I'd say go for eyes to add to the "wow" factor.

and ive went for shadow on rank and file with orgryn flesh.
my next squad though has my 3rd ig infantry conversion.
ill be starting my gargant soon so it may slow things down.(i know my ig make it look like im not too good at this but i find converting easy and i can usualy get a good model out of it-i just find painting ig so well...different?)

That said, they look MUCH better. Definately a massive improvement over your first shots. It's obvious that since you've been priming, you've been using a lot less paint. You're not pressing so hard with your strokes, and you're using less paint and lighter strokes on your cloth hilights. I also see you've been using the shading technique I've described for the armour, and what would appear to be a thin wash for your face shading, which came out quite well. There're still some details you could pick out (chest & helmet eagles, metallic areas on lasguns, etc...) but otherwise, this is a huge improvement already. You're using techniques that will build you a good-sized Apoc force quickly without spending too much time on your models.

What I'd advise now is to finish any unpainted minis you have, repaint any pewter minis that you had before you tried these new tips and tricks, and then save small details like eagles, skulls, small metallic areas, etc... until you're finished but before buying anything else. This'll still let you get more models finished faster, without rushing through each one.

But anyway, as I was saying, HUGE improvement. You've made a big jump already that takes a lot of people a good deal of time. Lookin' good.

Why not just make a gallery and put these images in it, then link to your gallery? That gives the advantage of a zoom function as well.

Try making a gallery here on Dakka to host your pictures and then link to that once you're done.

from what i can see they look alot better,need some bigger pics,and remember just take your time and with practice you will get better. it looks as though youve taken advice and applied it so keep up the good work

It's in your profile. Simply click on the link under the "Gallery" heading, and click on the "Upload Images" link. You'll see a bunch of text bars show up. Hit the "browse" button next to one then find the picture you want to upload in your computer and add the filename to the bar. Repeat using the other bars for any more photos you want to add. Select whether the images are all related to one subject, or differ in their subjects. When you're done, hit "Upload" then check back in a few minutes. Your pictures should be uploaded and you can then put them into a personal gallery and tag them yourself if you wish.

but the problem is theyre saved on my pc as that size...
anyway ive just got my dozer blade onto the eradicator and ill make the pics bigger when i get that up!

im not the best painter in the world but all of the suggsted methods are good. also if you slow down on the sergeant it did a world of good. i painted like that a few years ago! anyway keep improving and soon youll be a pro.

Yes, much better. Keep up the good work.

A tip that I learned: When something is primed black, and you are having a hard time distinguishing the details, use a darker grey (like codex grey) and do a very light dry brush over the trouble areas. This will pick out the details and give you a better view of the mine. Since you are going to paint over it anyways then the grey shouldn't be an issue.

I think that if you use a brighter light, or even another lamp, then you have an easier time seeing the model.

If you want more shading on the skin maybe try a base of Elf flesh, cover with water-downed brown ink. Then after that is dry pick out the details with dwarf flesh. It's a pretty easy, quick method.

Lookin' good guy. Might I suggest using the same sponge technique on the treads and lower sides of the tank's tread housings? Adding a watered down black/blue or black/brown ink wash to the metallic areas will also help darken them and make them look more like they're worn and oiled/greased up.

Also: Once you're comfortable just painting them, maybe try adding a camo pattern to your tanks and either the infantry's armour plating or their uniforms.

Keep shooting higher mate!

thanks for the comments as for the shading i went for orgryn flesh. and when i get some time ill probably give the tracks a sponge wash of devlan mud.-maybe a few weeks till the next update as im adding a furioso to my blood angels.
