Finished my second final this morning. My Engineering Materials final was last night. It took 2hours 45 minutes. It covered everything from eletron diagrams to the Carbon-Steel diagram. It was open note so I can't complain too much. I've got an electronics final in the morning and a Six Sigma methodologies class Thursday night. After that I am a free man. Start full time next week.

I'm going to cram as much painting and playing as I can till August. Missing school, I will not.

I'll never forget the smell of formalin, or how it made you worryingly hungry (nobody should feel hungry around corpses). Or cutting a female pelvis in half with a wood saw, now that was something I never thought i'd do...

This is why I could never be a Medical Dr. or even a medic for that matter. If I was anywhere near someone "sawing" body parts, let alone a pelvis. You would be picking me up off of the floor.

Six Sigma is a lot of fun! and it's a very good move to learn that if you plan on going into engineering. Take a lean class too if you have the time.

man, this talk of finals reminds me of just how relaxing my semester off has been, though being broke most of it sorta defeated some of the fun.
course, you engineer people talking has caused me to have some horrible autocad flashbacks.

I finished my finals almost a month ago. My Uni is notorious for having a very short semester though. Comp. Sci/Neurobiology here.

My degree will be in Industrial Engineering Technology. It covers production methods, models, and tools. Nearly half of my classes pertain to Six Sigma methods and other quality methods. Overall I feel confident in using what I have learned. This semester I had a project where I had to use Six Sigma tools in my workplace. I work for an electric utility company and I examined the sources of outages (97% ftw baby!). We are currently dealing with the aftermath of a nasty storm in our area, but after we are done I am going to see about continuing my project thru the summer.

@GG: If I have time later I will email you my findings and/or project.

Make sure you get a Black Belt.....= big money for the right company.

@GG: Yep, I was going to until I found how much the program would cost ($1200). It sucks because the class requirements are exactly the same for students and outside program participants, i.e. certain classes, projects, etc... I will graduate with all of the requirements, but will not recieve the Black belt certification because I didn't foot the extra cash. When I get a job in the field I'm going to try and get back and finish the certification.

Some companies in our area do their own training, but a lot also work with our university.

What field are you looking at? Are you going for your Black Belt/Green Belt?

Wait, what? You can get a black belt in engineering? I wish I could get a black belt in medicine - the use of deadly force... oh, wait...

What I was also tempted to do was get a Phd if i was able to after the end of my undergrad degree just so I could be a Dr of War, I mean how would that sound at a dinner party.

When you give total control to a computer, it’s only a matter of time before it pulls a Skynet on you and you’re running for your life.

Unfortunately I don't have either yet. My company just started wide spread LSS implementation so I will have to wait until the current black belts/green belts move on or more open up.

I'm a manufacturing engineer-working on my M.S. in Manufacturing Engineering.

For an explanation of Six sigma go here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six_sigma

The black belt is just terminology basicly used to describe an expert in six sigma. The system was used significantly in Japan, thus the martial arts terms.

How many of those hours have been spent studying the female anatomy? But, I suppose a GP must know these things.

In all seriousness.
Having worked as an OBGYN registrar I've learnt more than I'll ever need to know as a GP.

Try to keep your minds out of the gutter guys.

i kinda miss having finals i have to study for, as appose to say the metalworking art class i had where my final involved 12 hour shifts in a poorly lit and ventilated basemant shop, the room smelling of the chemicals we kept hot in crockpots for cleaning copper, a torch in each hand as i tried to get the blasted solder to flow where it was needed.

or carving a plaster sculputer with a cheese grater and a spoon, because a chisel would shatter it.

oh, and good luck with the 1000 hours Waaagh_Gonads

Ya baby got an F on my electronics final and still got a decent grade. Got my last one tonight.

Pint's shall be drained in celebration next week. I know I'm a Yankee, but we still have a couple pubs in the area.

That's pretty much my life these days, only replace typing papers with cranking out badass artwork. My final? I have to do an illustration of ape-men fighting a T-rex. Art school is the tits.

Ah man, that could've been me! It was between art school and medical school, but I went for the 'sensible' option, having seen how hard it is to make a living as an artist

Then you chose right. As things stand now, I'm picking up another major as an excuse to stay in school until the economy stabilizes. People! Spend more on miniatures games, comic books, movies and video games! Talented, hard working artists and writers need the $$$
