I guess so.
There is a good GT player here who always delays the game so that you get more and more confused hoping the game will end soon.

This borders on cheating and was actually considered so but with the new text phones I have seen players ask other players that are their friends also at the tournaments what they should do via text.
|
If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated. |

Actually I had somebody do this recently. I replied with the same level of sportsmanship by walking to his side of the board and farting loudly each and every time he asked.

I hear a lot of people talk about mind tricks in tabletop games, 40K in particular. What is Dakka's opinion on this? Is a blob of Plague Marine on an objective scary? Does a trio of Russes make you gak your pants?
What say you?
Mind tricks? i play the average gamer, not fething houdini.
if your worried about what someone has on the table then its game over for you allready
you will be too focused on killing whatever it is and feth yourself up.
the dumbass would be worried about 3 russ's.
the smart man would drop a melta unit near it.

Psychology does work. Whether its 3 LR on the other side of the table or 140 ork boyz, there are some things that are intimidating. This can make one play tentatively, botch the demployment, etc.

I have a reputation of taking alot of risks in my games at my LGS.
I constantly drop pods and termys near table edges.
I make a huge use of Plasma guns.
I charge nids and orks with devastators.
Do these crazy stunts always work? Hell no. But the fact that Im willing to do something crazy and reckless makes people play a lot safer, which means I know exactly where they are going to be in 2 turns.
