Contrary to what you believe Cheese E.
me and JD arnt trying to make this negative at all.
I atleast , cares about you enough to respond. why?
Because i believe you are trying to do good for sake of your religion.
However, i also believe you are doing it the wrong way.
If i really dont care about you , i wouldnt even try reasoning with you , i could just let you go on being a (god warrior , see pic from above post ) and generally make a fool out of yourself.

Luna, your wasting your time girlie, no matter what we post as proven facts / theories each one will simply be shrugged off / ignored or another reason given.
He basically wants us to talk about religion, but only the single one he believes in.
Anything other than that he will argue to his grave for.

Since when did I say that? I'm talking about my religion because it's the only one I know about.
What the feth, have you ever met a religious person and gotten to know them? Most religious people will defend their belief.
As to the proven facts and theories, so what if I can shrug them off? I believe what I choose to believe, and if you're trying to turn my away from religion, you must have a pretty damn empty life.
I chose to be Christian because it answered everything. I was never satisfied with what science told me. Who's to say science is right? What if both religion and science are wrong? Then what?
But we can never disprove each other, because there's always something that's overlooked.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

Then i ask you again. What else is there to talk about if either side simply shrug the facts off? It'll be a stalemate of "uhuh!" "nu uh!" " uhuh!!" " nu uuuh!!"
And you are doing way more then simply defending your believe ( again , multiple threads on it )

Ok, i try to be as nice as possible to people (ask luna, i can be a decent person)
but i do get pissed off when someone decides to make a topic to discuss something, then simply ignores everyones comments and tries to only focus on thier own religion.
you must have a pretty damn empty life.
A nice car, a great girlfriend, nice house, amazing friends, a job i couldnt live without, and yet no religion, my life is nowhere near empty, and the fact that you call my life empty seems kind of funny.
Since you seem to follow the words of a book which has no proof atall of any of the content and has no official or legal standing.
it answered everything
I can answer any question you ask, does that mean you will follow me? since both me and the bible are true to form and came about through words initially then neither can be disproved.

Well maybe you shouldn't cherry-pick your topics.
I'm not a big fan of threads devolving into a gun-control debate, but what aggravates a single board member can't make board policy.
The rules on politeness and posting off topic should be sufficient.
I've only ever flamed someone over gun control, which I personally find to be a sensitive topic because it clashes with what I've been taught (i.e. that guns are dangerous and ones designed to kill humans shouldn't be owned by civvies).
People have been taught things about religion too. What kind of a justification is that?

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it. |

I think we should ban topics about banning topics. They make me uneasy. We're all a family and we're falling apart! I don't want daddy to move away! waaaaaaaaahhh!
but seriously, Cheese Elemental you do seem to take offense too easily to other people expressing their beliefs. There have been a number of topics that I wanted to post in that have been locked because you accused people of "trying to disprove your religion". Well damn straight they are! They don't beleive it, and they are saying why. that BY DEFINITION is disproving your religion. Are you saying people should not be allowed to believe differently than you? That's not fair at all. Personally I find some of your beliefs absurd and illogical, but I havn't said a word about how you're "trying to disprove my beliefs." I understand that you're just trying to defend what you believe, and that's all good. The problem is it feels like you take great offense to people's beliefs that clash with yours. If they offend you, sorry but that's what we believe. If it bothers you, stay out of those threads, and for Emprah's sake don't ask for a thread to be locked because people use science to disprove your beliefs. That's what academic people do (not disprove your beliefs exclusively, but to prove anything they believe is in opposition to another idea). Basically what iIm trying to say is don't fly off the handle when someone posts something you feel is an attack on your beliefs. take a minute, read it again and try to put yourself in their shoes. If i tell you 'The flood never happened, Jesus was a 4 year old girl and god is actually slaanesh", would you not cite what you believe to be credible sources to disprove my claims? The only difference is that your credible sources are different than others, and you have to remember that what you believe to be credible may not be credible to someone you are conversing with. Personally, I don't believe a single verse of the bible to be a credible source, so citing it to me would be a useless gesture. If, however, you cited a geological survey or similarly academic source I would take you much more seriously and probably look into it myself. Last words: We're not trying to bash your religion, we're trying to explain our beliefs. If you can't handle that, then don't discuss it.

This is way too OT for nuts and bolts now and another thread has apparently been started anyway. I'm locking so that I stop getting update alerts for this in case anyone has any real technical issues, you can continue discussion in OT.
